When Poeltl was traded to the Toronto Raptors, the former Gonzaga Bulldog was thrust into a starting role. As a starter Collins’ stats increased in almost every statistical category. He averaged 14.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists while hitting 35% of his three point looks. Late in the season, when the Spurs injury report got crowded, it was common for Collins to be the steady force on the team, and some nights their best player. In March, he averaged 18.5 points, 8 rebounds and 3.7 assists, shooting 43% from deep.

And that says a lot, because they had Dwyane Wade, they had Shaquille O'Neal, they had Lebron James. But this is Jimmy’s fiefdom, and everyone here works around Jimmy. Jimmy doesn’t stay at the team hotel. Jimmy arrives in the black car to practice, when he wants to show up and practice. Jimmy schedules when he plays and when he doesn’t play. Jimmy shows up on the private plane. You can have one of those. To try to deal with two of those—all of a sudden you’re back to, a degree, to Shaq and Kobe. And in this era, I think that would be awfully hard. I do think Kyrie Irving wants to come here [but] I don’t think the HEAT are going to be subservient to Kyrie’s wishes.”

That would be wild trade for Portland and somebody they might give up that #3 pick if returns Zion, that's a beastly duo "IF" he stays healthy and in shape along with Lillard. Charlotte, I don't know if they would go for it, Mike has been a terrible owner, I don't know if it would risk to add to that terrible legacy by bighting on this and next thing you know Zion turns into a fat broken star that never shines.

I love the idea of overpaying for Myles Turner--swap Duncan and 2 FRPs for Turner.
I also am interested in the idea of trading with the Spurs:
Send out Duncan + Oladipo + Pick #18 + Protected FRP
Receive Doug McDermott + Zach Collins
This actually gives Miami a little more salary cap breathing room while solidifying the rotation. McDermott keeps another elite shooter in our rotation in place of Duncan/Strus. Zach Collins lowkey would be a great running mate with Bam and backup. He can actually emulate a lot of the stuff that Bam does in our offense while also being able to play alongside him:When Poeltl was traded to the Toronto Raptors, the former Gonzaga Bulldog was thrust into a starting role. MJ is cheap he’s not taking on a big contract over getting the cost controlled Miller. Blazers on the other hand are willing and able.

MJ may be selling the Hornets, it's a damn good play to try to drive up the cost of the franchise by 2 great young talents in Zion and LaMelo.

While this looks a bit bleak, We’ve got almost 40 mill in expirings in Lowry and Dipo. Then there’s Duncan’s 20mill which in an ideal world can be moved at some point without us having to attach too much.
Even if it can’t though, I believe that the article was assuming that we bring Gabe and Strus back for a combined $24mill if I read that right? If so, I don’t think we do that, nor do I think it’s a priority. I think we pick one of them with Strus being the cheaper option. Going to depend on how the roster shakes out tho
Expiring have value only if you take on salary, which is what the entire article says we cant or won't because of tax implications. A team with cap space will ask a premium for it even if its to take on an expiring, remember the Knicks gave up the 13 pick to have the cap space needed for Brunson. To get out of this mess would indicate basically keeping the team worse than it currently is and wait for the 40 mil between Lowry and Oladpio to expire.
Duncan has what 3 years left right? No competent front office would touch him until they see at least a full year of him being close to worth his contract.
