Quinn’s going to have a lot of familiar faces to coach after the Durant trade.

Good get him out and get someone that knows how to run an offense that’s more complex then making your best player set 1,000 screens a game

I think useless Caron Butler is the one that needs to go. Quinn will be a good fit in Phoenix

Hire Mike Malone as an assistant to unlock Bam offensively.

Need more quality assistant coaches.

Need to waive Duncan and find a way to move Wiggins, Rozier, Jaime, and one or both of Jagsmith/Kyle to be able to bring in multiple impact pieces. The speculative "KD package" leaves very little room beyond signing Davion, I suspect that isn't going to be the team's first option.

If this roster returns as is (unlikely) and Miami uses Golden State’s pick at 20 instead of trading it, the Heat would be a tax team again if it gives Mitchell more than $4 million or so. But the Heat would have until next April to get below the tax to avoid triggering the especially punitive repeater tax.

A deal could still be had without giving up Duncan in trade. I honestly think Duncan’s ETO savings is more valuable to us if we plan on resigning Mitchell and keeping our pick. Suns can make the deal and get into the first apron by releasing Martin and Micic but will still be in tax this year without Duncan’s ETO savings. Could get the Wiz involved to eat some salary in a trade. This is where they could be interested in getting Wiggins to join Poole with Smart’s lesser salary coming into play.

When talking about trading for multiple pieces i look at a team like Utah with 3 useful veteran expiring contracts in Sexton, Collins, and Clarkson that could all be of use to us. Most importantly they all expire in 2026 giving us maximum flexibility.

What’s actually going to happen was set in place last summer during the Olympics just like our last big 3.

Davion
Duncan (renegotiated deal)
KD
LeBron
Bam

2026:

Davion
Luka
KD
LeBron
Bam

LeBrons coming home and he’s bringing KD with him. 2 rings 2 MVPs with Miami in 4 years, 2 rings 2 MVP without Miami in 17 years.

Yep, too much complacency. Sat on our hands instead of believing in the guys who went to almost 3 finals and go all in

Luka is unquestionably a top 3 player in the league and exactly the kind of superstar the Heat would need to build around. His size and strength make him far less of a liability than most smaller guards on the defensive end. Some of the narratives surrounding him are just wild, especially when it comes to his defense, because relative to his position, he’s well above average. And your offense is essentially solved when he’s on the floor.

Luka consistently elevates his game in the playoffs, averaging over 30 PPG across 55 playoff games. He’s one of the most prolific and clutch playoff performers in recent memory.

Dallas made a massive mistake trading him the way they did.

Holding steadfast that we are going to end up with the Durant. Everything is aligned. Houston from a far might make sense but it doesn’t. Houston is about to get another cost controlled top 10 pick and Durant at 60 mil per for the next few years doesn’t really fit there books or those kids timeline.

Giannis on the other hand should be their primary focus but i think Giannis will prefer the Spurs who have just as much to offer. Houston i could see them pivoting to Zion or Morant using Van Vleet’s contract.

Both of those contracts fit there salary structure and timeline a lot more then Durant. After that there’s not much left for a Durant sweepstakes that makes sense cap wise or the return for the Suns.

Throughout the years i’m probably one of the most pessimistic when it comes to these types of deals but this time i can make it make sense on many different levels. This is going to be Riley’s final swing. He’s been planting this seed for many years with Durant and his agent. Riley is going to sell that Durant’s age means nothing and he’ll be like Ray Allen.

Those who will say we probably should have just signed Butler well the books couldn’t handle a Butler extension. Bum contracts like Rozier and Robinson are still on the books for a combined 47 million. Now they’ll be flipped in some form to help pay for Durant.

The NBA mafia will make sure Luka stays put in LA one of there treasure markets. I already think it was a conspiracy how he ended up there. They will reload around Luka when Lebron’s massive salary is off the books.
