Thinking down the line, might sound stupid but kind seems like they might be trying to turn Meyers into the next Udonis type. Get him his money during an off year in the off season, establish that relationship further and have him become an enforcer, hard-nosed player that does anything for the team.

I really think this is the end game with this contract. Sign big this year and then for the vet min next year when we get Giannis and possibly another coveted player like VO. We are building front end stock to cash out in the back end while giving us another run with the team and hopeful growth from the youngins.

"Running it back" doesn't work if Crowder isn't re-signed. His replacing Leonard in the SL made us a completely different team -- the team that made a Finals run

This ^^^ Don't understand the Leonard signing. Jimmy can like him all he wants but no other team in the NBA is offering Leonard more than 3-5mil per season, so I don't know why we felt the need to.

2nd year better be a team option, has to be. Even if it is, that's a lot of money for a dude who barely played in the playoffs.
Could be also to they needed contracts with enough money where they are tradeable in case a star is available.

I've calmed down a bit from my initial reaction and thought of this as well, together with a possible incoming trade of KO

Forgot about this. If it's a 2 year deal with an opt out, they can't trade you without your permission. So this deal makes no sense. Unless there's a wink wink where Heat give him the money but if it comes to a trade he has to say yes.

Bogdan seems very unlikely... Sacramento would match any offers since we are unable to offer multiple years.. Why would Bogdan sign a short term offer when he needs to secure as many years as possible

Ditto for Galinari.. If he was unwilling to come at the trade dateline over the length of the contract what makes you think he will sign now when he has a lot more options..

I would expect it would be a sign and trade, same for Galinari, Miami doesn't have the cap space available to sign them outright. Gallo would be easier to trade with because they'd unprotect their pick with OKC, not sure what Sac would want.

Yes but he would want multiple years in his new contract eating into the cap space for 2021... Leaving us without enough cap space to sign a max free agent straight up

We will see, i would be kind of shocked if ML got that. At this point the only reason he is getting any sort of deal in that range is good will.


His options are really to be turn into Shaq or get cut next year or agree to a trade....because no one else is gonna pay him 10 mil.
