Meh about Miller. Don't feel like we're really missing him. He still can't defend my grandmother and still super passive on offense (11 points per36).

Justin Hamilton, im carefully optimistic about him. He's never going to be a starting caliber NBA Center but watching him play a few times and looking at the numbers, he looks like a solid backup Center in the Spencer Hawes/Nick Collison mold.

Can shoot to ball and even hits 3's, spaces the floor, good size, high BB IQ, not athletic but mobile.

Honestly watching Lewis and Battier bricking shots all day and getting overpowered by opposing bigs, it makes me wonder what he would like next to the big 3.

What are the rules on calling him up?

No rules, he's a free agent basically. We can sign him and bring him up tomorrow, we just need to cut somebody else to free up a roster spot. Since he's working with our staff since training camp it's my understanding that if another NBA team offers him a contract he'll give us an opportunity to match. But this Heat team is really the best fit for his skillset.

He had another 27 points game last night, 10 boards, 4 assists. 3-4 on 3's. The kid is probably the best offensive big man in the dleague.

If he can do half of that against NBA-level talent, wonderful. Earl Barron used to do the same thing down there.

Where are the posters that argued with me about getting Stephen Jackson?

8 Games with Clippers, he's got a PER of : 1. as in the number one.

7% shooting from 3, 23% overall. Yea..a real tragedy we didn't get him.

Could Miami potentially sign Pau Gasol?? Like a ray situation: disgruntled player, after almost being traded X amount of times, still knows he wants/can play, and goes to the heat?

not a rumor, just an idea. if we couldn't get a philly big man i.e. hawes/thad for the philly 1st how about

mario
joel
philly 1st

for

jose calderon

this would be if dallas fell out of the playoff picture, but jose shooting 45% from 3 would look great with dimes from bron and wade

He's 32 YO and cant defend right now. Yet he's owed :

7,097,191 $ in 2014-15
7,402,812 $ in 2015-16
7,708,427 $ in 2016-17

That's terrible. he's going to become more and more of an overpaid liability each year. More old slow players is not what we need.

This. Plus Cuban would chew off his own testicles before doing business with Miami,

Any chance of the heat adding sg depth with the extra cash they have now? Maybe a trade for Iman Shumpert? Just an idea.

We've been talking about Bynum a lot, but I believe it's mostly because he's a real Center and not because any of us find him to be a great fit or a great player now days. We just want to add size.

Shouldn't we be targeting Spencer Hawes instead?

1) He's on the trading block
2) He's a real Center, and he's young (still improving at age 25) and healthy, could be a long time Heatel.
3) He's not very athletic but you might be surprised by his stats - 1.6 blocks per36, and around 10 rebounds per36. That's very solid numbers.
4) On offense, he's the perfect fit for us. a real stretch 5. Unlike Bynum, you wouldn't need to worry about him clogging the paint for Lebron's and Wade's drives. Hawes is a good shooter, he's actually shooting 44% from 3 this year. You camp him the 3 point line and the opposing big has to get out there to guard him, leaving the paint open for Lebron. He's also a very good passer for a big man.

The reason he could be huge for us is that he can provide the size and rebounding we need on defense and in the same time be a better version of Lewis/Battier on offense. We keep the spacing but get bigger and younger and move Bosh back to PF because we finally play a real Center.

We'll need to send out a 2017 first round pick (lottery protected, just to be safe), but I think it's worth it since we're in a win now window and it's very hard to add a Center, especially one that fits here. It most likely will be a late pick anyway. For Philly that pick is attractive because they're not trying to win anytime soon.

i like the idea but i dont see philly biting on that pick. a 2017 protected pick is not really enticing, you saw what it took for miami to get rid of it.

If nothing else works out, I'd like to see us go for Ivan Johnson. He is a guy who can play the 4 and do the dirty work. Plays big even though he's only 6'8. He won't give us much offensively though.

T. Jones, Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes are preferable over him but I doubt we get any of those.

Yup.. We desperately need a guy like that. I believe he is also quick enough to adjust to our hard trapping defensive schemes. I haven't heard about any locker room issues etc with regards to the guy. Seems like a hard worker.

Return to Miami Heat
