Brand in Miami would be awesome. It would make Haslem expendable so trading him to get a starting center should be an option.

Me too. :P

As stated above, this is a scenario for the ~54% probability that we get either the 3rd or 4th pick.

As said over & over again, I think most are in agreement that we don't trade the first or second pick. Unless it's 1 for 2, plus player/-bad contract.

No one seems to be talking about a plan B, yeah it's fine to hope for the best but we should be thinking/dreaming up contingencies at the 3rd & 4th pick.

I agree, we're not moving the 1 or 2 pick unless it's an offer that blows us away.

I had a nightmare last night that Riley signed Kwame Brown as his latest reclamation project. Woke up in a cold sweat and screaming.

Pat Riley seems open minded in bringing Ricky Davis back under a few conditions:
Riley expressed an interest in re-signing erratic Ricky Davis, even speaking of the ``kind of role we would expect him to play next year. For the last four or five years [he] has been a playmaker in his mind, a go-to guy. . . . In our exit meeting, I will give him a series of numbers to show why he might have to adapt his game with us.''

"I" think Riley probably wants Ricky to become more of a defender and facilitator than a "go-to" scorer where his flaws are exposed more often than not. If Ricky accepts these changes and at a reasonable salary, I wouldn't mind bringing him back. Maybe Riles offers him a 1yr deal so it expires with Marion plus add a trading asset for the season (unless he manages to get Mike Miller somehow).

You can't trade players who sign 1 year deals.

^^^^
I am not sure that's the case with your own UFA but you might be right (too lazy to confirm). Either way, a 2yr with an option for year #2 works as well.

What's with Okafor? I don't think that Marion will sign for less than his current salary but we really need a good big man. Okafor's health is a concern but he played every game in this year. So draft Beasley or Rose, sign and trade Marion for Okafor (then Charlotte can run and gun with Marion at PF) and we'll be a damn good, young and athletic team with good defensive players.

Charlotte doesn't need Marion with Marion-lite there (Gerald Wallace). Although they could be tired of him always getting injured.

That was my first thought, but i remember that Charlotte's coach considered the uptempo game before the season. Now, they have Mohammed who is a horrible player imo, but unaccountably he seems a serviceable option for Charlotte at center spot. With Marion, they can run more.

Of course, this trade is unlikely and too perfect for us.

Ricky has some okay talent. But I rather start fresh. I would like to have a defensive SF, or a a guy that could shoot the 3, of a pass. I say we target a guy like James Jones. Ricky is a streak shooter, or move Ricky to back up SG.

or a another version of Posey, a guy that is going to play defense, with a big body.

I think while Riley is being coach, he has lost some of his touch as a GM because he is just to close with the players, so he losses some his objectivity, and gets to close to the players.

What about trading Haslem for Shane Battier.

Moving Marion to PF.

Rose, Wade, Battier, Marion, Jeff Foster
Banks, Ricky, James Jones, Joel Anthony, Diop

I think that team would be okay.

Big guys that can rebound, and defend.

Descent 3 point shooters, James Jones, Banks, Ricky, Battier

Good defenders, in a lot positions.

Rose, Wade could be mind blowing backcourt.

I know everyone is going to keep crying about post presense, but I think this team will get a lot offense and rebounds, dunks. And after we have a good beginning of the season, a lot players are going to want to piggy back on the Heat. To play along Wade and Rose. Will get a veteran to fill in by midseason. This team will have very good defense.

Do you really think that Houston would trade Battier for Haslem? Battier made it to the Olympic team for a reason. He is an excellent defender, a good outside shooter, great leader, and a perfect teammate. If Houston were foolish enough to let him go for Haslem then I'd do it in a second.

I doubt the Rocket to trade Battier for Haslem, maybe Marion for Bobby Jackson, Battier and Francis.

They don't need Haslem anymore. Landry's their future at PF. That ship has sailed, if it was ever docked to begin with.

How about signing him for two years, the 2nd year is a team option.

I'm in favor of bringing Ricky Davis back for a guaranteed 1 season only because we need to keep the cap space flexible for '09. I think Davis is well behave and showing professionalism by finishing the season. There are players on the heat roster who can play but they opted to stay out from the team.

it would be nice to have the best DWade defender in the backcourt alongside Flash wouldnt it? I wonder what it would take, swap picks or something?
