Yes. We all have to align our perspectives to account for Rileys plan. He may have mentioned getting a couple draft picks this year, but I'd expect that to be 2nd rounders. We are going to need the cheap depth when we reshape our roster for win now, expensive players.
yeah you want second rounders who do not have guarantee contracts. Also they will likely be looking for mature players that will hopefully be more now ready. Late first could possibly be a target even thou the contracts are guaranteed but very low.ImageImage

Was looking at nbadraft.net, and they have Juzang and Mann going late first. I think we should try to get in that range. A good player could be had.

I like several guys, per usual. Teams want to rip you a new one though in return. The value of first rounders has gone through the roof, inexplicably. Rarely do the players pan out as many teams are just poorly run or have bad developmental programs.
What has late first rounders cost. I know in the past teams didn't like late first rounders, because the talent difference between late first and early second were equal. Teams use to want to trade down to get the same talent at a nonguarantee contract. Unless there is one player that you really like that falls.

If the Heat some how get a late first i would suspect them to trade back to the second.

And that's where the value exists. What player does the team value? You can not let that guy go if you like them. Teams are betting that you will fall in love with some one and pay more....

Tyler and Precious go to Orlando for Ross and the 8th pick.

Good? Bad? Meh?

I personally wouldn't trade Herro for anything outside a top four pick in this draft, so I'm not too keen on it myself. I wouldn't give up on our two most recent draftees for Ross and the potential of the 8th pick. I don't think there's someone with greater potential than Precious there tbh.

This makes perfect sense if we are trying to go for a whale. To say Herro had a bad playoff or 2nd year would be an understatement. Say Portland or the Wizards see Herro as trash (as an example), to them a high draft pick holds more value. To get people to bite you need bait. Say the Cavs want to move up in the draft, other high draft picks will help them do that, Herro honestly might not. So as part of a deal to get Sexton we give the # 8 draft pick and our trash expiring players and a future first round pick for Sexton and Love.
explain Herro's bad 2nd year that matched his playoff run. There's a reason teams are "interested".

Tatum trying to lure Bam to Boston.

Imagine a core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Bam Adebayo? That's a title contender.

I see Bam & Dipo, but no Brown Bam working the relationships, and Dipo repping the Heat.

Y’all don’t like Lief, but this right here is the truth. Heat know Bam is their future and he’s gonna bring the next whale in. Jimmy was Wade’s last act, and now we’re entering the Bam Era.

Pat is working the phones, and trying to lock in the first piece - Cavs, Blazers, Wiz? Someone possibly wants Herro flipped for a draft pick (longer rookie deal, or duplication of assets) and he’s seeing what’s the highest he can get.

Cavs makes sense if they’re expecting to draft Jalen Green - allows them to take a SF/PF at the 8 (Barnes/Wagner/JJ) for better roster balance. OKC might be wanting to move up and consolidate picks, giving us back control of the 2023 & one (or ideally both) of 16/18, which we then flip (with 23/25/27 + swaps) for Lillard or Beal. There’s other moves out there that also make sense around draft time.

Sure, in theory. but it's yet to be seen if Bam really becomes the type of player that attracts star players to south beach. He's not there yet imo. Needs to keep growing in both leadership, being vocal and scoring aspect of his game.

Seems Washington is looking to go inexperienced and cheap with their next head coach which might mean a rebuild and with a rebuild might also mean Beal and/or Westbrook could be available.

Since Chris Quinn did interview, maybe he has some insights of what the Wizards may do, you shouldn't be taking a head coaching job without knowing the direction of the team.

Spoiler:
Read on Twitter

Fred Katz who is The Athletics' reporter for Washington talked about the situation on his Wizard's podcast...
https://theathletic.com/podcast/128-wizards-after-dark/?episode=139

Fred Katz did say there's been no mention of trading Beal, Washington still saying no they're not trading him at this point but he does mention the coaching search of no previous head coaches, coupled in Beal being extension eligible soon, the front office should be thinking a rebuild could be coming.

We have seen him do this in open gyms plenty the last few off seasons. Feels like Spo got him system shook. Dribble hand off bot/cut to basket for lob or always looking pass first. Rinse, cycle, repeat. Spo just needs to let the damn man loose. Bam and Buter could also really use a Lowry type to open up the floor for more of this.

Nah, not everything is Spo fault, this is on Bam. We all saw countless time Bam get the ball then pass it off, then his teammates pass it back to him to do something and then he passes it off again. In fact one time Dragic got mad at him for it.
He doesn't have that scorers mentality, makes or miss I'm gonna keep on shooting. If the team is ice cold, I'm gonna take it on myself to get buckets. Hopefully after being embarrassed this playoffs and hanging around other superstars he comes back with a killer mindset offensively. Watching this, he can be a MVP level player. Just needs to be improve his jumper & range to 3 pt line, work on his handles to atleast to get to where Giannis is and play with the same force Giannis does offensively.

Bam definitely has an issue with indecisiveness, which probably derives in part from the fact that he can be somewhat turnover prone when he gets assertive. He's still just 23yo tho so that's something he can (and hopefully will) work through. The best players in the game are able to play at their own controlled pace while still being aggressive, but it's something that most of them took years to develop even while they were still putting up nice numbers and making allstar teams
