I think Anderson went for more money.
But the others you mentioned and Porter were better options than Martin imo. And all went for that mle.
I actually didn’t like Gallo too much because we need more than a shooter there.
Options weren’t great but that doesn’t mean you can just ignore the position again.
Porter signed for more than we could offer - again we would have been hard capped with that signing anyway.
I think Porter went to Toronto for the mini MLE. Which we could have offered anyone.

Oh, Otto Porter. I was thinking Bobby Portis, my bad.
To me he’s in that class of guys that some people wanted for whatever reason but doesnt truly move the needle. I get the idea of Caleb Martin starting wouldnt be ideal, but who after we lost game 7 to Boston said man we really need to go out and sign Otto Porter?

This point really needs to be highlighted over and over again before the rallying cry of using the MLE at the 4 gets out of hand.
We use MLE on PJ Tucker and we're paying him at 41 and would be hard capped.
Are people really lamenting over missing out on washed Galinarri and TJ Warren?
No, we are lamenting having to play Caleb at PF
Which is fine--conflating it by directing frustration at avenues that wouldn't have solved the issue seems nonsensical though. The same report that has people up in arms also suggested potentially utilizing more Bam and Yurt pairings. Shall we celebrate?
you mean playing Bam as a 4 ? would not work he doestn have a reliable jump shot. It might be nonsensical to you but posters can complain all they want either if you agree with it or not, you are voicing your opinion that signing PJ for the MLE would have been a mistake, which i agree. But it doesnt take from the fact we are still with a glaring big hole at the 4 and now it seems we will have to play freaking Caleb Martin as a power forward, we are just set to fail from the very start.

Training camp is two months away, no point crying about it now.

Kobewade11 wrote:I was listening to the 5 on the floor podcast on the way to work, a few things they mentioned:
-the team kept looking at the list of FA’s (at start of free agency) to see if it would improve and it never did. For the why didnt we sign this person or that person folks, it really doesnt sound like there was anybody out there the team was high on
-Expect strategy to tilt towards offense. They recognize they didnt have enough scoring in the playoffs, expect them to try to maximize getting scorers on the floor together.
-KD/Mitchell a game of chicken (obviously this is pre-Boston report). They are in the mix for KD but recognize they have no control over his marriage or divorce from Brooklyn
-Some people in the org believe we need to explore Omer/Bam pairing, playing bigger in general
-FO isnt as desperate as fans are to make a change. They like their group, if it isnt KD or Mitchell dont expect any trades at least until the deadline.
lol, I don't know who is more nuts between Spo and the FO. I mean yeah, scoring 80 back to back in the ECF like it's 1996 should've been a sign. But it's good recognition at least

And I can point out emotional venting all I want.
Yurt would theoretically provide spacing in the Bam-Yurt scenario. I'm not ready to shut the door on him or that at this juncture.

I think Bam and Yurt might have enough mid range shooting in them to make it work
Lowry
Herro
Jimmy
Bam
Yurt
Dipo 6th man
Maybe a legit scorer becomes available by trade deadline, we'll have our assets ready to go if so

And I can point out emotional venting all I want. Sure you can, as they all have the reight to post their opinions even if you like them or not. At the end of the day this is not Greg's forums, people come here to express and not have their opinions almost ridiculed by anybody or diminished by anybody.
On the Yurt front, his jumper is not ready yet, he was coming along fine but we decided to bench him and never gave him anymore meaningful minutes the moment Adebay, Jimmy and Dedmond all came out of their injuries. So unless he improves a lot this offseason, he is not provinding space.
