Goodwin should have listed some others teams with little assets to go along with Miami as a smokescreen. He used the social media message board playbook and it looks to have backfired.

This is absurd

That can’t possibly be true. That is equal to the NBA intimidating other teams in order to make Dame to Miami happen.

This might actually help if it gets other teams making a real run at Lillard then it may convince Cronin that the Heat's best offer is actually Lillard's actual market value rather than what they are getting stuck with due to Lillard squashing his trade value.

Dame emphasizing Miami publicly was necessary because Portland would never consider us otherwise if this happened in private. This whole saga will go down as Dame simply not having a NTC as to why we didn’t get him

I have just been informed that Lillard would also accept a trade to the Phoenix Suns, but only if Durant, Booker, Beal, and Ayton remain in Phoenix.

Why do you think the NBA only put out a memo about Lillard and not Harden? It's because some owners had an issue with Miami getting Lillard and no real issue with Harden trying to force his way to a particular team.

I would not be one bit surprised if Morey with the 76ers was one of the loudest bitching about the Lillard only wanting to go to Miami because it would them some type of chance of getting Lillard for some type of Harden package. You gotta admit, teams are going to be way more worried about Miami getting Lillard than the Clippers getting Harden.

Like dude who did we **** over so bad over the years? They really act like we are literally a mafia. Lebron literally hand-picks his superstar teammates, KD goes where ever he wants to go, and Harden at this point is going to start playing for two teams a year. But what do you hear, when you hear about other FOs talking about making trades with the Heat? "You got to be wary with them, you never know what other trade they are trying to pull off, and you don't want to give them a peace that they can turn around for that". replace any other team with the Heat as the one team he wants to go to, and people will still be somewhat mad but not really. As you say Heat, everyone loses their minds and says "But why them?!?!

The NBA put out a memo because Portland complained that they haven't gotten any interest in Lillard other than Miami and claims foul tactics to deter other teams from offering things so the NBA investigated it. The reality is that the interest in Lillard isn't going to be a high as POR hopes for it to be.

Need to listen to Chris Haynes podcast he does with Marc Stein (#thisleague UNCUT), he's mentioned a couple weeks ago that Lillard did do this is privately at first, he went public when Portland drafted his replacement.

I don't think a Lillard trade makes much sense but for a handful of teams and even then those teams aren't giving up a whole lot for a short window with Lillard and with the new CBA and his contract, you're not going to be able to sign additional players to have some talent to bridge from the post-Lillard era for his new team.

Dame for Ayton makes way more sense than Dame for Herro if the Blazers don't value the Heats picks/young players.

Full NBA memo sent to all 30 teams regarding rhetoric on trade request made by Damian Lillard and his agent Aaron Goodwin.

“Recent media reports stated that Damian Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, called multiple NBA teams to warn them against trading for Lillard because Lillard’s only desired trade destination is Miami. Goodwin also made public comments indicating that Lillard would not fully perform the services called for under his player contract if traded to another team.

We interviewed Goodwin and Lillard and also spoke with several NBA teams to whom Goodwin spoke. Goodwin denied stating or indicating to any team that Lillard would refuse to play for them. Goodwin and Lillard affirmed to us that Lillard would fully perform the services called for under his player contract in any trade scenario. The relevant teams provided descriptions of their communications with Goodwin that were mostly, though not entirely, consistent with Goodwin’s statements to us.

We have advised Goodwin and Lillard that any future comments, made privately to teams or publicly, suggesting Lillard will not fully perform the services called for under his player contract in the event of a trade will subject Lillard to discipline by the NBA. We also have advised the Players Association that any similar comments by players or their agents will be subject to discipline going forward.”

The NBA basically called out Mr Loyalty, Mr Run from the Grind and like expected he folded and put out faster than a Hialeah chick when you show up with flowers. Talk about completely overplaying ones hand. No one expects Dame to sit out, so now the inevitable will happen and the list of teams will grow exponentially.

Our problem is two fold. We have some here who swear we have the best offer, that will be seen very quickly one way or the other. The bigger issue is we are looking at possible tampering penalties. Remember Mr Loyatly has screen shots and all the evidence in the world here, and we are all seeing what loyalty means to him. He won't care if we have to trade 5 unprotected picks into 2030's to get a deal done. The inability to go all in to preserve future trades might easily gets neutralized with tampering penalties we can get.

That is unless Phoenix want to win in the playoffs. I'm not sure how Lillard, Beal, Booker, KD and some low quality starting center are going to be able to stop a really good team like Denver. KDs getting older and while it may not effect his offense all that much since he can just shoot over players, his mobility on defensive will continue to get worse. Maybe they'll just run zone all game long?
