Pistons, Bobi Klintman Sign Four-Year, $8M Contract

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/276699/Pistons-Bobi-Klintman-Sign-Four-Year-$8M-Contract

The Detroit Pistons have signed rookie Bobi Klintman to a four-year, $8 million contract. The Pistons signed Klintman via the second-round pick exception. The first two years of Klintman's deal are fully guaranteed.

That's a great deal for the Pistons, and the type of deals we should be making. Very Low risk high reward on guys you picked and you believe in. Larsson, Johnson for sure, and Maybe even Pullin if he shows out.

I'm still hoping he recovers in time for the Olympics, would be quite upsetting if he doesn't. For a few reasons.

Apparently we’re not going to let him play regardless

We are all doom and gloom about the upcoming season, but last season we were 4 games out of 2nd seed, losing 5 games by 2 or less points, 11 games by 6 or less.

We got only 60 games out of Jimmy, 42 out of Herro, Rozier missed 8 of his 39 for us. JRich, Duncan, Caleb, KLove, Niko all missed significant time. Even Bam missed 11 games. JJJ only missed 7 games, but his groin injury affected most of his season injury wise.

Only Love and Jimmy are guys we can expect to decline, and Jimmy mailed last season in, and now wants to prove he should get that extension, and needs to prove it through games played. All the rest of the guys are either in their prime or improving.

Heat had made a finals trip and an ECF the last two season, the guys have had long seasons, and the early exit may be an advantage to come into this season, both in rest and hunger.

Yes we lost Caleb but we have similar contributors at those positions to pick up the slack and his regular season wasn't spectacular or anything. Those minutes go to Duncan, JJJ or Niko and aren't a worry. I don't see why we can't be a 4 or 5 seed.

Boston are miles ahead. Knicks probably too. Bucks, Philly have major injury and aging concerns. Cavs, Indy and Orlando are in our range. I can see us in a similar east as last year, but we can be better, more healthy, more motivated and have a few more bounces go our way.

That’s VERY short sighted

And ignoring the fact they’ll have loads of cap space, if Ware and JJJ are good enough to be bam and Jimmy replacements why wouldn’t they make the playoffs?

The loads of cap space is merely a projection. Niko can extend after the season and who knows what his number will be. Jacquez can extend in two seasons and him getting a max extension is a possibility.

Even if Mia can finagle the books to keep things clear, there’s no guarantee a superstar will become a UFA and then sign with Mia.

All the while, Bam’s prime years will be relegated to playing low stakes games with young inexperienced players

Regarding Jacquez and Ware, they are years away from entering their prime years, in Ware’s case several years sway. They represent the long sighted view of the future as they are on completely different timelines to Bam.

Nikos getting a bargain deal I’d say, Jaime who knows. It’s all projections, we could sign another star and trade all those guys for a 3rd and build a big 3 for all we know.

Idk why we’re acting like the time is ticking on Bam like he’s got 1-2 years left, he’s just now entering his prime and still adding to this game, he’s going to be elite for several more years, if any of those guys turn out to be serious contributors then great. Longevity will be prolonged in this less physical 3 ball league

If Niko shows nominal improvements, it’s realistic to expect that he gets north of 20m per. And if he gives the team the impression that can take a big leap, something closer to his max isn’t out of the realm of possibility.

Jacquez, barring injury, is getting his max, I’d guess. Basketball aside, his marketability increases his value.

Regarding Bam, the team would be asking a lot of him in a post Jimmy era to be patient and allow the young guys to develop and hope that a star shakes loose and chooses Mia. 2 years from now, when the team hopes to get him a running partner, he’ll be 29 and will have likely gone through 2 more seasons of play-in results, all the while watching his boy Tatem be in contention every year.

For the record, I prefer the team to keep both him and Jimmy and get them immediate help.

If however they pull the plug on the Jimmy timeline, I’d also prefer that they do a hard reboot and extract as much possible resources in exchange for both Jimmy and Bam.

Could run it back with Achiuwa as an extra PF. Or perhaps sign Fultz as backup 1.

Not now, if they sign anyone it would put them into the 2nd apron, they once again have to wait until late in the season to add someone to a prorated salary. It's weird how his happens all the time isn't it?

Why would we even need to sign anyone? We've got Bam and Ware and Love and Bryant, and Jovic should be back in plenty of time for the season. Plus we have several other guys that can play minutes there in a pinch. Did someone else get hurt and I missed it?

We need more talent, not more bodies.

I think having a person to develop is in the 15th active roster spot is always a good thing compared to having nobody. I hate seeing a 15th man spot wasted.

Back in the day we only had 12 spots on the team, and that's the way we liked it.

The 15th roster spot is bookmarked for Keshad for the prorated amount once he’s done with his 60 game 2 way limit. We have just enough for that to stay under the 2nd apron

very short sighted by us, could've kept him for an extra year for almost free at very little risk.

That Pistons deal should be the formula for our projects - lock em up cheap long term, both sides benefit. We're invested in our guys anyway, and they get some extra security.

I have a question. What has Dru Smith done that’s not only gotten him a contract but allowed him to skip SL?

https://www.rotoballer.com/player-news/nikola-jovic-expected-to-be-ready-for-camp/1401557?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic (ankle, toe) is expected to be ready for training camp. While a Serbian outlet indicated the 2022 No. 27 overall pick sustained a fracture in his ankle joint, Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald reported he has an ankle sprain and a fractured toe. Either way, Jovic's condition has improved, although he may not be able to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics. The 21-year-old got off to a slow start in 2023-24. However, he finished the season by averaging 12.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in eight games in April. With Caleb Martin now in Philadelphia, the door is open for Jovic to earn more minutes during the 2024-25 campaign, so his statistical contributions could improve.

I read somewhere that we rescinded the 2-way contracts of Alondes and Swider. Does that mean they won't be on the team at all?
