No one’s in denial, the goal was always KD.
Let’s not act like multiple posters didn’t want Mitchell..some even preferred Mitchell over KD

1. Utah/Donovan - Miami gave their best offer yesterday during the presentation in the afternoon. They will not be leveraged anymore to one up New York's current proposal. A couple of things, my boy was actually able to scan through the actual power point presentation and was impressed. It was tailored made to showcase Herro, on the benefits to their team, contractually based on his projections vs cost, actually had algorithms and analytics based on social media impacts on his fanbase, etc, essentially some sort of algorithms of what players pulls more fans than others, kinda cool to know the team is that in depth. The team feels their is interest there for Herro from Ainge, however he is asking for way too much. In fact based on conversation with New Yorks GM, their offer is still off even though they are in the lead from anybody else on picks. Miami feels like Ainge might hold New York hostage and let this ride into the season hope they get desperate and offload everything they have to make a mid season trade. Miami is walking away at the moment unless Utah comes back and shows more interest in getting Miami back into the fold.
2. Brooklyn/Durant - Across the league Brooklyn continues to make calls and have conversations only a few teams are still showing some interest but there isn't anything out there sent back to Miami to Negotiate higher, in fact a lot of teams have very good communication and some GM's are transparent as far where they are package wise without giving up specifics as nobody wants to outbid a ghost for Durant, so teams do not want to set a precedence where they are taken advantage off based on the Gobert trade which Mini essentially outbid a ghost package that was never on the table. Durant is not backing down on wanting to be traded, if he had Brooklyn would have started used this tactic already to drive up the Durant price, in fact their GM has been very transparent on all communication to a degree which is good. This is taking a while due to the expectations that were set early on, the league/media kept selling the biggest return package in History of basketball and it just has not been the case. Expectations around the league is that Indiana has given Phoenix until the end of this week to find the mythical 4 team trade to get Durant, which has not materialized, there are talks from owners right now that Durant has set this precedence that is unacceptable and they are not playing ball to help him go to any preferred destination its gonna have to be an organization that has a good relationship willing to help a superstar get out of playing his 4 year contract. Miami luckily already has their ducks in a row with the final presentation in place. All things look to have Miami as lock to get Durant, without every getting Bam involved which is good news for the fan base.
3. There are 2-3 trades available once the Durant/Mitchell saga passes if Miami is unable to land either. The teams are respectful of Miami's all in approach and are awaiting the negotiations to be finalized to move Duncan, Picks, Yurt to get a starting level PF. There is another high to mid level profile trade available also using Herro with Duncan, Yurt, Picks to receive a multi player assortment to load up our Depth for quality role players if they want to go that route.
4. Bam & Jimmy have been doing a really good job of recruiting both Durant & Donovan this offseason they are in their ear constantly. Miami really appreciates this and knows how important player to player communication can be to offseason success.

I buy into the idea that KD's primary motivation in all this is largely to prove to all that he can win a ring without Steph and GS. Things did not end amicably there, if i recall.

Did your boy say who are some of the players we’d turn to if the KD deal falls apart?

Daffy wrote:If we land KD that means Herro is definitely gone. My question is do we start Dipo of bench him. I'm thinking we keep him in a 6th man role. You guys confident in his offense bouncing back as our true 6th man? How much ppg you think he'd average?

Starting lineup need a three point shooter at the 2 so Oladipo in a scoring 6th man role off the bench is what’s in order no matter what.

From the conversations I have had, Lowry would be gone if we trade for Durant or Mitchell, however if not he will be staying and the plan is to use Duncan's salary to go for a PF. Lowry seems to be committed to getting in real Heat shape so I doubt they use him if a big Whale is not caught.
