We lost our 1 defender at the guard position and replaced him with an undrafted wing player. Cool for him I guess, I don’t really care either way it doesn’t move the needle. The Heat usually leave 1 roster spot open, something gotta give. We need a defender at guard.

One year deal? This isn’t Riley’s usual MO where he these g-leaguers get signed to cheap long term deals. So either they aren’t too sold on Keshad, or they envision needing extra roster spaces next season.

Also what does a one year contract mean? Is it just till the end of the year?

Keshad Johnson contract may allow the Heat some flexibility. Move Stevens to a two-way now. And some other tricky stuff.

So now the indication that stevens gets a two way. Christopher and Stevens now gets a chance to play on the active roster.

This yr might be the largest youth movement under Riley in Heat history. Jovic, Jaquez, Larsson, Ware, Christopher, Johnson and now Stevens.

Surprised Johnson got the standard deal over Christopher (need a guard above all else with the injury and Jrich sucking), but both have some good talent.

The contract doesn't mean anything in regards to who plays. They both get to play

Shams said it was a 2 year contract, for whatever reason this is what Riley does vs signing minimum guys to 2+1 just 3 year contracts to possibly have a good player at a very low price or if they don't work out, they can be included as an expiring or just filler. Just think how much better Miami's rosters would have been the last few years had Miami signed Strus or Vincent for an extra year at the minimum. These are the guys you should be willing to extend since it's not that big of pain if they don't work out but are a huge boost to the roster at that low price if they do.

I really don't like large youth movements because they all end up needing their next contract which is usually much larger in nearly the same time period (within a year or 2 of each other).
