Re: Andrew Bynum
It's not about speed, it's about positioning and making the right rotations. Bynum is incapable of that. He can't physically OR mentally handle our defensive schemes. And offensively...who cares? Would you rather post up Bynum or Lebron? Offensively we don't need a center. Defensively is where we need one. And it's hard to see how Bynum addresses that at all.
Oden is concievably exactly what we need. Remember, unlike us Pat knows exactly how Oden is doing. If he doesn't go after Bynum, it seems safe to assume that he likes what we've got. I.e. Oden might be able to come in against Indiana and push Hibbert out of the paint, and grab some boards.
We can still beat Indiana without Oden or Bynum though. So far the DWade knee management program is sputtering along. If we can get Dwade to the ECF and Finals without the knee problems that have plagued him the last two playoffs--we'll have a much easier time than we ever have.

Yeah, that's not important in the Heat scheme/
no BIG man will be fast on defense the way the Heat want them to be, Bosh and Bird are skinny power forwards.
Hibbert wouldn't be fast, Shaq wasn't fast, neither will Bynum be fast. Miami would probably cut Hibbert because he's too slow, look at him in Indiana flourishing, y'all get caught up with that headless chicken defense and don't see the bigger picture. You want fast defensive centers? keep running out Power forwards and have every center we play against looking like Shaq, Bargnani and Amare are Shaq too
Shaq and Hibbert ? Really ?

Re: Andrew Bynum
I don't understand this conception about Bynum's speed. He moves very well for his size.
I don't really care if we get him or not. But I'm willing to bet that if we do get him, he'll do more good than bad. That's a lesser load of minutes on all of our big men if we get him.

"Juice" Skolnick on The Ticket right now. Says Joel trade opens Heat up to waive Toney Douglas and sign Bynum to bolster the big man rotation.
Adds he's still hearing Heat's lukewarm on Bynum and would only consider signing him for the minimum.

W/ Bynum its minimum or nothing. If he doesn't get that sooner rather than later, he could see himself out of the league. Like Beasley, it takes a special team to sign Bynum and right now the league is hiding from a guy like that. I'm told its more than lukewarm but it isn't on fire, which puts alot of it in Bynums court.

Re: Andrew Bynum
good to hear. signing bynum is a no lose situation. cutting a 15th man for what can potentially be a 15 minutes a night big body is a no brainer.
only if we get him on the minimum though. id take the risk of bynum over oden who hasnt played in 4 years. a rotation of birdman/oden/bynum is leagues better than what we had in seasons past and oden has yet to suit up in a game

Re: Andrew Bynum
Not saying the two are alike, but the scenario is in a sense. I'm reminded of the 04-05 season when we brought Mourning back after a trade to Toronto resulted in them waiving him.

clearly I'm comparing size. Bynum is better offensively than Hibbert, Hibbert is slow, couldn't play our defense but guess what he's slow and anchors a historically great defense, its their system that is better than our defensive system because ours requires great athleticism. This would need to be altered to help Bynum be most effective.
Same with Shaq, too big and heavy to play Heat headless chicken defense.
Our defense is for dudes that are fast, athletic and disciplined. Im not scared by Bynum's inability to play out defense, i can see the bigger picture of how good he can be here though. But i'm not going to keep arguing this. Whatever happens happen

Yup, was thinking exactly that.
Might be Bynum, but even if we're not going after Bynum, I don't see Toney Douglass sticking around...we're cutting him for a big sooner or later.

Re: Andrew Bynum
I forone would waive Mason. Douglass is the play making guard this team needs. Someone who can create and plays with some athletic ability. The only issue is if Riley feels Douglas is that guy? and would he accpet the Mason role of not playing for weeks and then being ready. Hopefully Bynum backs off the $$ and signs with us. Giving another Big to prepare for the playoffs.

Re: Andrew Bynum
Wow, so the Heat do in fact get rid of Joel and if they can waive Douglas, they can get Bynum if that want. I mean if they sign him for MINIMUM, it's low risk.
I didn't think they could put themselves in this situation because they just could not get rid of Joel, but they go and package the 1st philly pick (makes Joel look more enticing I guess) and BOOM this nikka is gone.
Man if this goes down... that'd be something else.

Mason has a more reliable outside shot, more mature, understands his role, makes less mistakes. He's a much better fit for what we need, even if Douglass is slightly better as an overall player.
I see us keeping Mason and doubt Douglass stays after the trade deadline.

No it went like this:
Douglas: - Mr. Riley, Godfather, I haven't received the plane ticket yet. Cannot wait to meet you in person and kiss your ring.
Riley: There will not be any ring kissing, nor will there be a plane ticket. The only way you'll be a member of the Miami Heat, is on NBA 2K14...
