Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
I remember when different teams were interviewing Hassan when he came out of college and they all thought he was crazy because he seriously felt he should be the number one draft pick and a star and all that. Those interviews murdered his stock. I think his college coach spoke quite poorly of him too. He seemed to shed that off after he went through Lebanon and realized he was taking everything for granted. But with a max contract looming, he seems to have fallen right back into that entitlement and lost sight of the hunger that put him back in the nba. This is assuming that these rumors have any merit of course. But his body language and getting chastised openly by the captains is giving those rumors merit...

Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
Canes nailed it said exactly what people don't want to say. Ultimately it's the coaches job to squash all this and get them to play as a unit maximizing talents. Pop is one of the only one left I see that can still do this. This team is out of control. We would want Jamal Crawford on this team but really how is he different than Beasley... Oh his teams didn't knock him for what we all know heis bad at. Like don't get mad your sports car gets bad mileage and sux offroad while getting mad you pickup isn't fast enough.

It takes a special kind of staff to screw up the development of two already developed special talents in Whiteside and Beasley. It's like they got worse every week under this staff.
Never seen a player so criticized for rotating to a driving opponent while taking the fall for someone else failing miserably to rotate to his man. When he doesn't come over, his teammates look at him like wtf didn't u block that, and called out by Spo for "not trusting his help". Then numbnut fans blame Whitey when scrubs like Aldrich go off, when he makes his proper help rotation. The next time u guys wanna accuse Hassan of chasing blocks/stats when he rotates over, ask yourself, when has a Spo headless chicken defense EVER not demanded immediate help from a penetrating player?
Said it last season and I'll say it again. Too many expiring contracts creates mercenary team that doesn't play as a unit.
Hassan is the elephant in the room that is potentially stopping everyone's big pay day. Which is why even scrubs like cole Aldrich get twice the touches from teammates in the same amount of pt.
The team wants Hassan to be ok with 6 shots, get rebounds, and get blocks and he aint buying it. He's being blackballed by his teammates and he's turned very bitter because of it.
True, very true. But only a few posters on here will understand this post.
LOL @ the guy we got off the Dleague is "being blackballed" by his teammates.
Who exactly?
Wade the face of the franchise?
Bosh the ego maniac?
Deng AKA "Mr selfish"?
Dragon AKA "Team stats"?
The team wants him to rebound, block and defend because THATS HIS **** JOB. THATS WHAT HE DOES BEST. If he doesn't do that he's back in China, aint nobody keeping in the NBA for his post ups and passing.
Turned bitter...that's a laugh. Got the chance of his life with this team, and he's bitter because...what? he doesn't get enough post ups so he can turn more balls over? GTFOH

Your problem along with many others, is that you all THINK that Hassan owes this team his life. He doesn't owe them anything, they needed each other. You all think that you know how the NBA business really works, when you don't. He will get a max contract, whether here in Miami or elsewhere. stop sitting behing those computer screens acting as if you all know what's really going on and what's best for Hassan.

Wouldn't Whiteside be more valuable to us next year with a bigger contract? lol We can trade him to a team that might lose a star the year after....xD

It's true, he doesn't owe the team anything. But the team doesn't owe him anything either, at least not post ups.
Sure, he might get a max with a bad team that will give him all the shot attempts he wants, but it will most likely result in loses. Not saying he's a bad player, but his post skills need work.

Rex never said anything about Hassan owing the team his life.
Rex never claimed Hassan was not getting a max contract. No one said that, actually. He's getting maxed whether here or on another team. Whether we feel he deserves it or not is just a matter of opinion.
You yourself have no idea how the NBA business works anymore than the rest of us outsiders do, unless you're an NBA employee or some adjunct. We all have opinions fam, get off your high horse.
What's best for Hassan is getting the most money possible and to probably market himself as well so that his family will be taken care of for generations. That should never be in question. I always want players to get maximum value. I'd love for them to sign for discounts so we can afford better players, but that's up to them and/or up to ownership if they want to spend. Seeing what Hassan has gone through, I'd expect no discounts. That's the reality of the situation.

Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
Hassan ain't getting blackballed by anyone. Asking for Hassan to get 15 shots a game is unreasonable. CB doesn't even shoot 15 shots a game. I think Rex said it best(if it was you who said it) Hassan should view himself as a glorified Deandre Jordan than a Prime Shaq. No more pouting about shot attempts when he's in the game he should do all the dirty work. Rebound,Block shots, putbacks. There will be times where he will get the ball in the post but I've never seen it feasible to give him the ball multiple possessions in a row, his offensive game isn't that good to do that.
Hassan has a special talent for defense and that's whats getting him the Max next year. No team that's gonna pay him next year is going to give him over 10 shots a game. I love Whiteside as a player there's few trades I'd take for him but he's far from perfect. Clipper fans probably feel the same about Deandre.

I'll add 2 things :
1. I said multiple times - If Hassan can get his head right, stop acting up, be coachable - we need to do almost everything to keep him. It's more about attitude and hard work with him, not about improving his post up.
2. It's far from certain he gets max offers from us or from anyone. Teams are aware of his issue, on and off the court. Trust me, they're paying attention. He's a lock to get 10+ per year, but wouldn't be suspired if he never gets the full max. 14-18 per first year is his range IMO. (his max is 22). We'll see.

All Hassan has to do is stick to what he's good at and he'll get a max. All that extra **** is unnecessary. He wants to improve then he should work on his fundamentals.

Hassan's max is not 22. He is a player in the 0-4 year range: $20,957,000

Plenty of bad teams will give a near-4 blocks a game player a max without even caring about his attitude. That attitude stems from not being given the freedom to do more than what's asked of him (rightfully so, of course). There are teams that will give him that freedom and money. The cap is rising and his max is only 22 million. Gonna be a bunch of overpaid players next year.

I don't know if I go this far. Hassan is responsible for his poor play. Prigioni taking the ball out of his hands was ridiculous and FIVE turnovers is blasphemous for a guy who never makes an assist.
However, I do agree that we suck at player development, and it troubles me.

The difference between me and you all is that i'm not falling for the okey doke that these beat writers are brain washing you with. I clearly stand out from the crowd with my opinion on all of this, so it makes me an easy target for you all. Like i said, i cannot wait till this is all over. We will see who have the last laugh.

Re: Hassan Whiteside: Road To The Max
I know one thing:
If I don't see Whiteside step up on the ball handler on a P&R im going to bash my TV.
Other thing I don't like is why is he always pouting when he gets to the bench?? Complains too much. If I can notice the pouting and I'm some casual ass fan, then I can imagine what the team probably deals with.
I my mind, hes good as gone. Not simply because of "attitude" or whatever( which does play a part), but because hes probably not going to stay for the right price. If he doesn't stay for the right price, gotta get something for him, right??
I'm just trying to take all emotion out of the thinking on this topic, cause ultimately, it's not our decision anyway. They know what they want to do, and they're going to do what they think is best, period.

Everyone should look into the mirror here, everybody. You have Mr. Blackhole offense in Hassan, frustrating that this dude NEVER passes the ball when he gets it. No matter where he gets it, whether it's an offensive rebound or a pass to him in the post, he's going to shoot it with a crowd around him. Then he's selfish on top of that. Dwyane isn't innocent in all this either, he's been complete **** since the Phoenix game and are we forgetting that he's playing for money too? He scored 3 points in the second half. Bosh had LMAM and went like 3-11 and had some head scratching defense in the Golden State game. He's talking about communication but I've seen his man sneak behind Hassan, get the ball, and passes the ball to Hassan's man while Hassan is left out to dry and CB never said a word. Luol has to go, I like him but we need a shooter in his place. Dude can't hit a wide open shot if he was alone in the gym. Beno can do a little on offense but he's complete ass on defense. Gerald is an idiot, a 2 on 1 fast break and this jackass runs to the corner 3. I've complained about this with him before, like wtf are you doing? Justise is a rookie so I'll lay off him. Nothing against Tyler, he's a warrior and competes like his life depends on it. Everybody else can suck a dick...

You can't assume this. These other GM aren't amateurs. They're aware of the thing we see. It's possible, but far from certain.
Name the teams you think are definitely going to offer him full max.
