He's played almost half a season less than Herro over the last 4 years, its a legimitate concern imo.

Our cap is sunk. This trade would just be swapping what's occupying it

Nah... if they're doing a rebuild expand the trade, send an extra draft asset or 2, possibly swaps and send out Robinson and bring back some other useable players with Beal. Miami would be taking on a ton of salary and Beal can tell Washington Miami's the only place he wants to go... so use that for your advantage, Beal has to OK what his new team is sending out and he's not going to want a gutted team. The NTC was an incredible asset that Beal got along with max pay, Washington old FO really screwed up, they should have moved him before giving him a NTC.

An expanded trade with Washington is one avenue, but it's def not the only one. If Miami is ready to unload picks, the options open up

I'm honestly more concerned about Herro's track record of getting injured every postseason

It's fair to say then there's question marks for both.

In all honestly he’s either always injured or **** the bed. He also doesn’t impact the game much at all when he’s struggling to make shots. That’s Herros postseason reality right now, I’m not waiting another season to see if that changes if he’s the difference in adding a legit star or not.

Heat trade: herro, Lowry (exp), jovic, oladipo, 2022 1st rd pick, 2025 1st rd lick

Heat get: porzingis and Beal

We then let strus go in fa and keep vincent

Porzingis
Bam
Butler
Beal
Vincent

With Caleb and duncan off the bench

Like you....I would want to keep Caleb.

I also would want to keep Jovic if at all possible even if that means putting in more draft capital for value.

Didn't someone say that Robinson also had to be off the roster to make the Porzingis money work? I am probably mis-remembering something I didn't understand to start with.

Him and Jimmy making $106 mill combined for the 2025-26 season is jaw dropping stuff.

I'd say there's question marks for just about everyone in the NBA.

I've got enough answers to clearly see Beal as being better than Herro for Miami for the next 2 years

Perfect timing for a big salary cap jump under a new TV deal

If we can do that deal of Lowry, Herro, 2027 FRP for Beal and Monte Morris I'd take that and run.

Gabe/Morris
Beal/Robinson/#18
Butler/Highsmith
Martin/Jovic
Bam/Love/Yurt

This roster with 12 players comes to 188mil with a 75mil tax bill.

Keep in mind we would be in this situation regardless of what we do.

If we kept the players we have, signed Gabe for 3yr 21mil (mini MLE), waive and stretch Oladipo, accept Yurt's qualifying offer, release Strus and sign nothing but Vet Mins to fill out the roster we'd still have a 14man roster costing 188-190mil with a 75-80mil tax bill.

Feel like we really need to find a way to shed salary.

Wiz could draft Cason Wallace or Hood Schifino at 8 making them both ideal backcourt duo’s with Herro. Should be easy getting them to include Morris with Beal.

For 2023-24, the salary cap is projected to be $134 million, and the luxury tax line is set to be $162 million. The first apron is set at $7 million above the luxury tax level in each season of the CBA (so $169 million for 2023-24) and the second apron is set at $17.5 million above the tax threshold (or $179.5 million). In future seasons, all of those numbers will rise

Here’s this info again. So knowing the Heat, as long as they avoid the first apron above the luxury tax line (169 mill), they can do whatever they please. So Jimmy Bam and Beal would be a rough estimate 115-125 mill for next season? There’s still quite a bit of play remaining actually (assuming Herro, Dipo expiring, and Lowry expiring are outgoing)

I think Beal’s a good player. And the way Spo has gotten the most out of Jimmy, I don’t doubt he could do the same for Beal. Doesn’t change the fact that he hasn’t been any more available than the guy he would be replacing, that’s all I’m saying.
