This really sucks to hear, a huge bummer that this is how it's ending.
This front office is starting to look very questionable with a combination of decision the last few years.

I hope he gets traded to the Lakers. Knecht and 25 LAL FRP better than Beal and 31 FRP or Kuminga.

Would honestly rather let butler walk then get Beal and multiple first
I would either keep Jimmy and let him walk or sign and trade for some picks or trade him to a contender that can offer combo of expirings or good young players and picks

Sham report is likely coming from the Suns GM who has been in discussions with Miami and Butler agent. Suns know that Miami wants nothing from Phoenix and trying to soil the market.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
I don't blame Butler for wanting to leave. Why would anyone be upset?
This organization has done 0 to build a good team around him and has been unable to land another star (moreover, it doesn't seem like they've even tried very hard – but, admittedly, that could just be me on the outside looking in).
We are a treadmill team with 0 assets, many liabilities, and we refuse to tank for draft picks. It's a bad business model.
Also, Barry is a terrible reporter. Dude knows 0.

I’m not sure what Pat Riley and the front office was thinking by first calling out Butler and then thinking he was just going to play out his contract going into his age 36 season with no assurances going into next year with zero commitment from team other than his opt in. Players like to feel wanted. You either extend him or trade him.

All of that can be true while it also being true that giving Jimmy the extension would be unwise.
Thats what most of this is about. If the Heat offered the extension, Butler would sign.

Butler doesn’t want to leave.
He’s wants to get paid preferably by MIA
This is all the theater of negotiation

I want nothing to do with that Beal contract. I’d rather let Jimmy expire (even if he’s going to try to be toxic for the rest of the season) than take on a bad deal to make him happy.
It’s clear the front office badly botched the past few seasons as well. Time for some changes there also. I’m sick of watching this treadmill team.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 2
Can you all stop acting like this stuff is made up fabricated nonsense
We’re either trading him now or losing him in the summer in a mediocre sign and trade.
This front office sucks, have been saying for years now that they’re not what they used to be, specifically Pat. Now reports are Jimmy is mad they didn’t add another star to the roster to get over the top (like they promised him when he signed). He wants to leave because the FO sucks.

They weren’t thinking, and that’s why Jimmy wants out, they’ve been asleep at the wheel.
He wanted to retire here but he wants a championship. He’s realized this front office can’t get anything done and now he wants out and I don’t blame him. This all started after having an elite player request Miami and only Miami and the Heat not being able to get anything done. It’s rumored now that they were playing hardball in those negotiations as well with Jovic being the main asset. Complete incompetence

Oh reports are out that an aging star who by the way hasn't played in a week is upset that the FO didn't get him another star? Is that perhaps because it plays better than "he wants that extension and Miami didn't give it to him and he'd be happy to finish his career playing 60 games or less per season in Miami if he got his money"

i loved the jimmy era but im down with letting him expire too instead of screwing us for the future with a Beal deal. the best audition for jimmy to get a deal is a deep playoff run so stop pouting and suit up and be healthy jimmy

What he realized is Miami was actually very serious about not giving him his money. Now the media games begin. "Jimmy just wants to win". What he wants is that extra year and coasting for 20 of the 58 regular seasons games he plays. Anybody look at Jimmy Butler this year and think he should've got that extension?
