Dame’s agent is such a blow hard. That statement is giving me PTSD from his botched attempt to strongarm Portland into sending Dame here.

And then there are players that contribute that say they aren’t getting paid. The NBA needs to ditch guaranteed money and take away all limits to the max salary a player can be offered. Have a player make $100 million a season if a teams thinks there’s economic justification, but the second a player gets comfortable, they might get cut. It’s the same way in the real world, NBA should not be different.

The players have a union that would never allow this to happen. That’s the difference.

That union is holding the league back. From a fan perspective, if I see a player give up right after they get their big contract, then that player needs to go.

As long as money is guaranteed if it can be proven that performance issues are related to a work-related injury, then maybe. Problem is these team expecting you to play through injury, and then being able to cut you loose if you get injured doing your job and can no longer produce.

Ok fine, injury the players get to keep their money. But all teams need to stop asking for tax payer money. Glad we reached an agreement gentlemen.

This… or news on us getting a SRP for Duncan? How about Wade joining the Heat ranks. We need some feel good news beyond a hobbled Dame potential.

Thank god… like i said before, duncan probably got some bad advice from his agent.. i would have opted in, get 10 mill after termination and agree to a long term deal elsewhere… now he realizes his market isnt quite as high as he thought it may be, probably thought the heat would take care of him with a 3 year 40 milli deal.. **** that

Keep the books clean for a big move in the next year and lean in fully to a dev season (even if that big move ends up being a roster blow-up)

FWIW, I always rooted for Duncan. I think he caught a lot of Heat - no pun - for getting paid what the market for 3pt shooting specialist was at the time. He was a hard worker and within his limitations, he showed improvements along the way. People expected Klay Thompson but that wasn’t him.

Props to him for getting paid after being undrafted and coming from DII college. Fun player when he was hot. As Spo would call him, he was ignitable.

Duncan declining his option was the best surprise.

Wish him the best.

Another solid move.

Seems like a huge bag fumble by Duncan/his agent - exactly what we needed.

I heard Dame talk alot about wanting to be more with his family and i think he will rehab at home and won't sign anywhere.
I think we need to tell him hey sign a 2 year vat min deal with us and rehab at home this whole year.

Nah, Miami would have traded him to another team wanting to cut cost. His guaranteed was only 9mil. He can get more than that as a free agent. He’ll get a MLE somewhere of his choice.

Pacers blowing it up too along with the Celtics

LeBron if he’s on the move once again holds the cards in the East. Ironically Cleveland would walk to the finals with him but they are already in the 2nd apron and can’t pull off a move for him without completely gutting their roster.

Put LeBron here in Miami, and not only do we have the East’s best roster, but we will also getting the NBA doing backflips to make sure they get LeBron in the finals at least 1 more time for the ratings.

I also wouldn’t mind the Heat turning things over to Zo, UD, Wade, AND LeBron as they phase into the next generation of front office management. LeBron has already expressed a desire to be involved with Inter Miami, he could also get a partial ownership stake in the Miami Heat. LA is fun when you’re in the mix of it on the day to day but if you’re going to retire Miami offers all the same amenities with a little bit more privacy for somebody like LeBron. I think I could see the family setting up for retirement down here.

Get Klutch and Rich Paul down here and construct the next iteration of NBA dynasties. All those guys know the Heat and Pat Riley way, but now we just put a new age spin on the tried and proven formula.

I don’t see James getting out of basketball completely when he does stop playing

Getting someone like Dame around the young guys would be good. You got enough youth they have to be expecting it's going to be a season of growth. Rehab goes well and it is what he is. I doubt he ever plays more that 8-10 minutes a game but he's still be able to sub in and drop a quick 6-8 points on good efficiency with a defensive heavy line up.

Duncan also isn’t a very smart player. Way too many boneheaded mistakes.

This sounds like a nice fantasy but no way he comes back

Return to Miami Heat
