According to a league source, the Wizards are open to acquiring Michael Beasley from the Heat this off-season.

The Heat is looking to create more salary cap room and the former second-overall pick struggled at times during his second season in Miami.

The Wizards' front office, which could have more than $21 million in cap room to use this summer, has mixed views on Beasley's game.

Beasley is a Maryland native.

Would you guys aim for Andray Blatche and JaVale McGee in return?

I'm not sure if playing in his hometown would be the best situation for Beas but hey those are some talented names you brought up. I wouldn't mind Blatche/McGee.

Beasley and James Jones for the 5th pick (include 3 mill cash to offset James Jones).
Sign Amare to same contract as Wade.
Sign Boozer to 13 mill starting salary.
Draft Wesley Johnson at 5th pick.
Draft Eric Bledsoe with our 18th pick.
Trade Daequan for cap relief (include 2-3 mill to pay for him if that's what it takes).
Sign Dorell for a 1 year, 2 mill contract (wink, wink)
Trade the 41st and 42nd pick for the 31st pick to get the best reserve SG you can.

C - Amare Stoudamire (16.83) / Joel Anthony (0.847)
PF - Carlos Boozer (13.0) / Robert Dozier (0.457)
SF - Wesley Johnson (3.6) / Dorell Wright (2.0)
SG - Dwyane Wade (16.83) / Jordan Crawford (0.457)
PG - Eric Bledsoe (1.8) / Mario Chalmers (0.847) / Patrick Beverley (0.457)

If we can get some ring chasers instead of these young guys, go for them.

I dunno if Wizards take that deal...

But I can almost guarantee Boozer doesn't settle for 13 million. Someone will give that man max dollars.

Interesting that this comes out...To quote myself from the 2010 thread.

Very interesting.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. A looming draft day deal with an under the cap Wizards where they would absorb Cook and possibly James Jones' partial gurantee, in addition to taking on the development of Beasley? Possibly.

In return, we'd get a future draft pick, while in the meantime creating more space for approx 3 max deals? 8-)

Good, I'll take as many teams interested in Beasley as I can get.

all i know is we better not trade Beasley for pure cap space, that would just be plain dumb.

I could see us trading Beasley,James Jones, our 1st round pick for their pick and Filler, but its unlikely they do it if they get better than 5th pick

Blatche is ok, hes like a poor mans Gerald Wallace..Mcgee is pretty wack except for blocking shots. I would trade Beasley,Jones and our first for the Wizards lottery pick (top 5) although i thought i read somewhere they traded it. Possibly walk away with Wall, or he PG from ohio state (if they do well in the lottery) Could you imagine wade and wall? Game over, R.I.P NBA

Remember Pat wants to build a dynasty to compete now. The Wiz wont trade the lottery pick and this looks like a pure salary dump to get the salary for a 3rd max agent. Either Pat knows something we dont or ?

No one wants Jones. We need to dump Beasley and let anotherteam try to teach him how to play basketball

Wizards fan here. Right, Ernie's not trading McGee or Blatche. McGee is probably untouchable at this point and Blatche came into his own last season.

Pat probably wants to get rid of Beasley's contract to get more cap space. Wizards have Al Thornton and Quinton Ross, both with 1 year remaining on their contracts and will probably make a combine $4 million next season.

I would assume Pat wants to trade the 18th pick as well, to get even more cap room? How about the Wizards trade their 34th pick, Thornton, and Ross for the 18th pick and Beasley?

^THIS sounds more realistic. Thornton and Ross can be options off the bench for us.

I would go for this but we got to get rid of JJ or Cook contract as well

I think if you swap out the 34th pick and we get Cook in return, it'd may be feasible. The way I presented it on the Wizards board is that getting a guy like Beasley would be a far better option than spending the MLE on someone. $6 million on two guys isn't the worse thing. We're gonna have to field a team next season and we're gonna have to sign guys. $6 million out of $21 million in cap space isn't too bad.

Seeing how we signed Jones for 3pt shooting and defense, there will dfeinetly be another tem\am out there who may still want him. Trading Beasley ALONE for just cap space would be supid, BUT if wecould trade Beasley, cook,Jones(and his 2 mil gurantee) and the first rounder for space it would make more sense, then we'd enough for 3rd free agent AND some leftover i believe. But I'm all in for Trading Beasley for potentially Wesley Johnson etc.

1. Wesley Johnson is not good

2. I think most GM's know by now that Jones is some garbage. Its hard to get teams to accept players who rode the bench for an entire season, especially ones making as much as Jones.

Why not allow James Jones to battle Dorell Wright for minutes? He was wonderful in last season's playoffs for you, though he was a victim of the logjam this year (Beasley at first, then Q and Wright). I say keep him and play him. He could very well be that veteran presence you needed.
