Rockets GM takes a shot at the Heat..

Post#1 » by salqaddoumi » Fri May 14, 2010 5:24 am

Damn, what does Morey have against us?

Bill Simmons twitter msg to Morey: check this out: http://www.wewantwade.com - thank God you didn't think of this idea when you were courting Marcin Gortat [last offseason].

Morey's response: my pitch was better than:after we sign a free agent, come play for a team with 8 minimum players&the lowest payroll in the NBA!

He's usually a smarter guy but that was a pretty ignorant thing to say. We have enough flexibility to have other pieces on the team besides Wade + the other max FA.

The truth of the matter is, our capspace means little, if anything, and we have done absolutely nothing the past three years to improve our franchise the past three years.

Disagree with me?

What did we do? That's what my whole Pat Riley rant thread was about.

Sign James Jones? Draft Beasley? Draft Chalmers? Pick up Joel Anthony?

Yeah Miami as a team sucks balls. But you might still have Dwayne wade plus that other max. But to be honest Miami has a worst core than NY or NJ.

Most teams don't go more than 8 deep.
Wade
Max FA
8 mill cap FA
Beas
Chalmers
Cook
18th pick

We should have 3-4 starters sorted out with that - two as franchise players.

We are one year of FA away from adding 2 more picks, a MLE and a LLE.

What should we have done that then that would have us in a better position to compete than we are now? For all the moves the Cavs have made they only got one round past us and only one more W against the same team.

Do you only come out of your hole to slam Riley?

Also Morey and Rockets fans in general have been really cocky about this summer. For a GM that has never come up with the big move and has yet to get his team out of the 2nd round...

Not sign James Jones? Drafted Westbrook or OJ Mayo (like Wade wanted). Signed Trevor Ariza like I wanted.

Right there we would be just about the same in terms of capspace but have a stud young PG and a solid roleplaying SF.

Who are you, and which board do you come from?

Edit: A little detective work (Google search) shows the Toronto board. :reporter:

Pretty funny. But at the end of the day, he's just some chubby, geek looking dude. Someone With ZERO pull in this league.

He knows he going up againist Pat Riley. A Hall of Famer, with 5 championship rings. So he's probably feeling a little bit insecure at this point.

Aaron Brooks, Kevin Martin, and the corpse of Yao Ming aint gonna cut it, fatty. Bosh wants to actually win a title.

It's very odd that an opposing GM would actually put their name to something like this. Usually stuff like this comes from people speaking on terms of anonymity. This just seems like poor judgment from Morey. And I think that the Heat have a much better pitch than Houston this summer just based on the fact that we have Wade(God willing).
Miami to Bosh/Lebron-Come play with Wade and btw after one of you sign we'll still have 15-20 million dollars, depending on sign and trades, to fill out the roster or bring in another upper tier player.

Houston to Bosh-Come to Houston, we didn't make the playoffs this past year but we are crossing our fingers that Yao can get his gimpy butt on the floor this season (I wonder how it feels to watch 17 million dollars sit on the bench all season?)

Thank God we have Pat Riley instead of you if your intentions were to blow cap on that overrated bum Ariza.

Because James Jones is so much better right? I don't see how 2 million more in salary than JJ is "blowing" capspace.

I still think you are too easily dismissing the sheer amount of complex work Riley has to do to come out a winner this offseason.

Might be, but it is also ruthless. He is raising doubts about Riley's ability to build a contending team next year, and placing these doubts in the minds of the general public, media, agents and players.

Not every GM has the stones to cut down rivals publicly like that.

^-- Honestly, I'd probably not have said anything if it were me. Morey's general strategy in the past was to avoid pissing people off (like Pritchard did.)

Gloating is hardly my style.
