To make it perfectly clear...i don't want him here. I feel we can win championships perfectly fine without adding Lebron. Wade already gets a lack of respect as it is...and Lebron coming here would instantly make Wade second...maybe not in Wade county but every place else.

Now I know Wade doesn't care but as a fan..I want to see our superstar get the respect and accolades he deserves because he's just good as anybody in the world.

Now with that said....We as fans are fine with it because we don't know the ins and outs but you are crazy if you think Lebron doesn't want to be the SOLE reason why he wins the championships. It's about ego and after watching the Larry King interview, he wants to be the greatest of all time and lets face it....Wade has done it all as the number one option so when the time comes like in the playoffs...both of these guys mind are going to change because you better believe.....

I'm not even sure Wade's ego can handle it....I'm almost positive Lebron's can't.....Everybody talks a good game until the media starts handing the credit and the blame out and thats when you see what everybody's made of.

Go be a Wade homer, I don't care. I'd rather win as many championships as possible, LeBron enhances that possibility.

As for the Lebron comment...Wade..Bosh...and Johnson can win plenty championships with Riley coaching. Lebron isn't god buddy...he proves that every yr in the playoffs.

You want my answer though? I think its 50/50. On the one hand, yeah he'd have to deal with the negative perception of joining Wade's team. On the other, he may get positive press for valuing winning above all else. And if they do win, which they likely will, all eventually will be forgiven.

In history sure it's nice that you won BUT make no mistake about it...Lebron and Wade are NUMBER 1 options. In history when number one options get together IN THEIR PRIME OR APPROACHING it, it doesn't work out.

the closest was LA with Kobe and Shaq but...screw revistionist Laker fans....Shaq was the Alpha and things became a problem when Kobe started figuring he was good enough to be ALPHA too and that crap ended up causing them the 2004 NBA champioship

Boston in the 60's maybe but even then Russel was the Alpha


this has never worked to my knowledge and I just want people to think about this because make no mistake unless your chasing rings this has never worked. Just something I was pondering

If you read this board everyone is already thinking about it plenty. This is constantly mentioned as the #1 reason he might not come to Miami. But yeah, I guess we should think harder.

Like TH said, seems like your loyalty is too much to Wade and not enough to the Heat. If we get LeBron locked up that could mean 6 titles for all we know, putting us as one of the great dynasties ever. In the end, that means more to Heat fans than "how is Wade ranked in the minds of RealGM'ers"

But in your defense, let me offer up a story I've been saving. There's a part of me that just doesn't want to be a part of the LeBron soap opera, but rather the up-and-comer that topples him.

I’m a big fan of a particular team that was heavily favored to win a title recently. This team was expected to win every game -- no actually DOMINATE every game -- or they were deemed as failing. For instance, they beat a particular trash-talking team by 10 and the opposing coach declared it a victory for his team, and it actually made sense to most people.

What's more, because of that "favorite" status and the hype involved with having the game's most decorated player, they became the most reviled team in America led by probably the most hated player in America.

To get to the point, it was no fun at all. Not as a fan, and as I came to find out, not as a player or coach either. Even winning by 20 was more of a relief than any kind of satisfaction or enjoyment.

The night before what turned out to be the biggest game of the year, I met a player’s Mom at a hotel bar. Turns out, we went to the same high school and of course shared an admiration for her son, who was a great kid outside of sports. But he’d told her many times that this season in particular was like “being in a cage” and "not one bit of fun" for all the players because of the ridiculous expectations and microscope they played under. Winning was no longer an accomplishment, because that’s what they were expected to do. Winning by 20 meant nothing, because then the question was “why wasn’t it by 35?”

As a fan, this had been exactly my experience too. For a decade, gamedays were the best time I had all year, with a win being a “cherry on top” worthy of celebration. But now, gamedays were a nervous ritual with no satisfaction or reason for celebration.

Despite being “on top” with the nation’s best player, it was ZERO enjoyment. I missed the days of us being an up-and-comer, of getting no respect and having to earn it.

Now, it ended up that this team caved under the pressure of expectations and lost right before reaching the championship. In fact, they barely showed up mentally, and some stories I’ve learned since point to the players just being tired of the burden. And mind you, these were not wussies who lacked the mental fortitude to overcome hurdles … most of them already had a couple titles under their belts from previous seasons, when they came up from underdog status to surprise.

What happened after that loss? With the weight of expectations off, they went back to having fun and played their best and FUNNEST game of the season. Everyone went home with smiles after that game, despite not meeting the lofty expectations laid out for them before the season.

My point? I’ve been through this whole “best player in the game, expected to win a title or the season’s a failure” before and it was easily my least favorite season as a fan in any sport. And frankly, I’ll take the underdog status, or the no respect status, any time .. even if we fall short in the end. That’s why I know Lebron to Miami won’t be as enjoyable as it sounds. In fact, I think it could be quite miserable as fans -- and even players and coaches. As a pragmatist, I have support LeBron-to-the-Heat. But there’s a big part of me that knows what’s coming if that happens, and I just don’t like it.

(BTW you may have already guessed … I was talking about 2009 Florida Gator football, the least fun I’ve had as a fan from the first game on.)

My fault Tim..I was reading the board and just figured everybody's breaking the necks wanting Lebron to come here, which is fine because he is great but...I'm almost positive this can't work. Now Lebron may even come here.....yup he could possibly come here for a grace period of dominance but is that going to tear the team up for the sake of championships?

I can see what a lot of HeatSince88's saying, but to counter that a bit, I grew up a Canes fan. The season they got upset by Ohio State, it sucked... but I still had a blast that year as a fan. But I guess that's because even when the Canes aren't on top, people still hate us, so it really made no difference.

If you're used to the hate, then I say bring it on. And you know what, the Heat got hated on plenty in 2005 and 2006. So come on down, LeBron

Heatsince88....I've been a Heat fan for a long time but when a franchise gets a player of Wade...Lebron...Kobe, type calibre it's natural for them to want the respect for the player especially when they get disrespected so often but you are right though...It could be better being the underdog and I have some selfish reasonings.

I read that story and you right on the money... but I was thinking more along the lines of Kobe and Shaq, except it could be worst because Kobe grew into the Alpha but Wade and Lebron would already be alphas going on the same team and this just reaks of disaster

Look, if you don't want to do this out of some feeling of disrespect for Wade, and value him over the team, that I can understand. I don't agree with it at all, but I can understand if you feel that way.

But if you honestly believe LeBron pairing with Wade is risking anything in any way for the Miami Heat as a team, I could not possibly disagree more. If anything, he is the only 2010 free agent who if we got, Wade could go down with a season ending injury and we'd still be a contender next season. Talk about a no brainer.

As for the argument of accepting roles, if they sign onto the same team, they've already accepted it. This isn't Kobe/Shaq, where one guy outgrew the other. They are both already established players, so obviously they will know where they stand going into it.

Wade will get his respect, cause we all know Lebron couldnt win it all alone, and right now hes labeled as soft when closing games, that meaning the im sure that at the end of the game Wade will be the one taking the game winners. Lebron will be this teams Roger Clemens but Wade will be our Mariano Rivera!! LOL!!

If it can be done im 100% Riley will do it, and should be his #1 target. Its a dream scenario for most Heat fans but we all know it is not going to happen prob.

Of course if Lebron +Wade wins the next 6 championships - Lebron would still have one less than Wade. difficult to be GOAT then. of course he could win a couple more after Wade retired - but 1 more doesn't really make you GOAT.

They'd be seen as the greatest 2 players of all time though.

Yeah, I don't think Wade has nearly as big of an ego as Lebron but, I'm pretty sure they have been best friends ever since coming into the league... Why wouldn't they want to team up with each other? I don't think stats would matter to them, I think it would be all about winning. Lebron would probably avg. over 10 assists while his scoring would come down a little, and Wade would be the primary scorer on the team and they would both set each other up with their impeccable court vision. But enough about the offense... Our defense is what excites me the most... the possibilities are endless. Wade and Lebron on the same defense? Teams would **** their pants on fast breaks, knowing that Dwade and Lebron are running them down. And both have a very good off the ball/help defensive game as well as an above average one on one game. We would be unstoppable. Its a dream to have ONE of these players on your team...let alone TWO? IMO they would work efficiently together and would be very dominant.

IMO, at this time Lebron has failed at every single attempt to win a championship, has had just as good if not better teams than Wade ( I'm leanning more towards better teams), and there's nothing more rewarding than winning.

Lebron knows this and Wade knows it.

By teamming up for like, lets say, 5 years with a player options after 3, they can win 2 to 3 championships in 3 years, then review their stance at that point. If it's working, continue, if not, then try the ALPHA DOG thing on your own, but make no mistake, the opportunity to team up to play in a dynasty while sharing the "top dog" stage, is rare, heck, very rare, and the chance of this is infront of them. It sure beats not winning.

Stories, Movies, fairy tales, history etc, have always shown how greed leaves one with nothing and regrets.

we have the assests to assemble a team better than the showtime lakers bud, with the man who coached them him self, and was a NBA champion a mere 4 years ago.

add in the fact that next season i believe dwyane will be entering his "prime" and continue to develop his jump shot beyond the arc. he's 28 years old, and he's had serious injuries in the past. He'll have to improve on his jumper as all superstars have (ala Kobe Bryant) in the latter part of their careers. he would still be our cruntch time "go-to" player, no questions asked. sorry lebron

I don't really like to discuss Lebron James, I think we have less than a 2% chance of getting him in Miami. It's just pointless to talk about, his personality and ego says it all. He won't be signing here in Miami. Like Bill Simmons said, Wade could very be the best player in the world, he's just been stuck in super bad teams. Had we done it right after the championship season, Wade would have continued to win championships.

Lebron is not going to come here and be behind 1 ring from Wade, he's going to want to surpass Wade, then Kobe then Jordan in rings.

With that said, I strongly believe that if Lebron James stays in Cleveland, signs in NY/Chicago or what ever, Riley will still create a stronger team than the one James will be in. And if my prediction holds true, Lebron might be the Dan Marino of basketball, or Barry Bonds of basketball.
