Undrafted Torrance weighing 'five or six' free-agent offers
A day after he unexpectedly did not hear his name called during the NBA draft, former Alabama point guard Mikhail Torrance heard from several teams but has not yet signed as an undrafted free agent.
Torrance said Friday night that he has received offers from "five or six" teams. He acknowledged that the Miami Heat is one but declined to identify the others.
As a senior this past season, Torrance led Alabama with 15.6 points and 5.1 assists per game, but he was not highly regarded as an NBA prospect until he turned heads at an April camp in Portsmouth, Va. He already had started training at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Many experts then predicted he would be taken in the middle of the second round.
"Last night, I didn't expect that at all," Torrance said of going undrafted.
"But I've got to move on. On the bright side, I get to pick the team I want to go to."
