Undrafted Torrance weighing 'five or six' free-agent offers

A day after he unexpectedly did not hear his name called during the NBA draft, former Alabama point guard Mikhail Torrance heard from several teams but has not yet signed as an undrafted free agent.

Torrance said Friday night that he has received offers from "five or six" teams. He acknowledged that the Miami Heat is one but declined to identify the others.

As a senior this past season, Torrance led Alabama with 15.6 points and 5.1 assists per game, but he was not highly regarded as an NBA prospect until he turned heads at an April camp in Portsmouth, Va. He already had started training at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Many experts then predicted he would be taken in the middle of the second round.

"Last night, I didn't expect that at all," Torrance said of going undrafted.

"But I've got to move on. On the bright side, I get to pick the team I want to go to."

Props Heat_team02. You've found a lot of good information/news/rumors etc on prospects these past few weeks...especially in the draft thread. Another great find here.

I like our chances.

A 6'5" guy who can play PG? You've got to give him a shot. Seems that he already has a chip on his shoulder from going undrafted. Hopefully he picks us, and we'll see how he does in summer league.

Is it true he has a heart condition of some sort? Heard it was possibly the reason he slipped... Some even had him going in the first round.

Also I heard he may be playing for the Bobcats in the Summer League... Hope that's not the case.

i heard heart condition is why he dropped but he can play through it and other NBA players have overcome the same/similar condition

I really want this guy on our team along with the Duke PG as our developmental PG's. Both are 6'5" and make good decisions and passes; while Torrance is an outstanding defender and the Duke PG is an outstanding shooter.
