Hypocrisy of the GB, A Call For Silence.

Post#1 » by MiaFLSurf » Mon May 23, 2011 12:04 pm

Im the last one to really care about what goes on in that craphole of a General Board, but even I have noticed that the hypocrisy of how Heat fans are managed and how others are managed is getting out of hand.

As you can tell looking at my name, I, in fact, have been kicked off this board for saying things like: "ROSE...MVP...LOL."

However, countless posters say repeated things that are derogatory against Heat players, Heat fans, Heat posters, and the most offensive of them all- the city of Miami and its inhabitants.

I take pride in my city. I take pride in my team.

I have thick skin. I personally think people that insult others and cities on a message board are flat out losers of the worst type. Hiding behind keyboard losers.

While this isnt a call for an iron fist to the GB (though equal treatment would be nice), this is a thread to remind the Heat faithful to just....stay away.

Who cares about the GB. Let them hate the Heat. Its jealousy. Pure jealousy. And it brings out the worst in people.

What pleasure do you get in arguing with people who really dont get it? They insult you. Your team. Your city.

Stay away. Enjoy this time. Enjoy it with Heat fans.

Go Heat.

I went to the GB during the Boston series, and will not be returning there any time soon. It's like a f**cking playground for mentally handicapped children that don't fully understand the game of basketball...

The hate the Heat have been getting in the playoffs, and the delusions of fans of other teams that can't even have a decent debate without throwing tantrums or insults went from being amusingly comical to borderline pathetic.

I've frequently wondered what would happen to GB if we just stopped posting there. Would it get boring after a while, everyone raging against the heat with no one to actually lash on? I'm pretty sure the hatred would subside since everyone would pretty much be agreeing with each other the whole time and that gets boring.

Oh well, it could never happen since there will always be people that want to go there and fight the good fight but it's a pretty big waste imo. Speaking of which, is there some other massive board for Heat fans besides on Realgm? Or a good basketball forum in general? A lot of the peeps at GB are too stupid to have a decent bball conversation with and it ruins the whole fun of having fans from multiple teams brought together.

I don't know. When the hate gets this strong I just go and revel in it like a pig in slop. The closer we get to the finals, the further away from logic their arguments become. Their hate filled rants bounce off me like toothpicks off a boulder. Feels good man :P

Oh the hate will be 10x stronger than it is now if Heat beat Chicago and then Dallas, I'll probably get waived by then because I wouldn't be able to contain the excitement.

Being Monday + being mad = being REALLY MAD

The city of Miami should pitch in for commercials denouncing anti-Heat slurs in everyday language.

I love the hate personally.

You know they're conceding when they go back to the "well what do you expect, they have 3 superstars" and "the league is ruined" arguments. A personal favorite of mine is the "they're a bunch of ft hacks/they colluded, so they any chips they win should have an asterisk." I LOVE IT.

That's how you do it.

People are going to make excuses for every single win we get. There was outrage on the GB even when we beat Philadelphia claiming it was rigged and that the refs made the Heat win.

You can't debate with people like that. It's better to just embrace the bitterness in these clowns while laughing and mocking them.

Edit:
FaithPuppeteer just got suspended. The quality of the GB has slightly improved.

Love hate! As Doc Rivers said, all the criticism just made our boys that much better. We had the advantage of playing 82 playoff games before we even reached the postseason. Getting the best from every team and road crowd has battle-tested our boys better than anything we could hope for. And I feel it's now paying dividends. PEACE.

Just report EVERYTHING that is trolling/baiting Heat fans. (Ex. FaithPuppeteer, Scouta)

And also report things that are baiting other teams too, like Mavs and Bulls.

I mean, I got suspened for a week because I called someone an Idiot on teh GB because he thought that the Wolves would be better off without Kevin Love. That's all I said. My post was literally "You're an Idiot".

QFT. The hate is strong with that clown. It's only a matter of time before he gets waived.

I'll admit it, the more vitriol directed at the Miami Heat, especially on the general board, the more I enjoy the victories. They've become completely unhinged at this point. Every day there are 10 new threads assaulting the Heat, each successive thread more hyperbolic and impotent then the last. As the inevitability of dynasty becomes clearer and clearer they seek refuge behind ever more ridiculous rhetorical Maginot Lines. It's a form of the seven stages of grief. Their last line of defense will be a series of ridiculous threads that predict the Western Conference finalist to beat the Heat in 5 or 6 games. Mark it.

Like many of my fellow Heat fans, I love the hate as well. I mean really, I enjoy talking smack to the haters.

The General Board's Heat "hate" doesn't bother so much because, as the OP pointed out, it's just painfully transparent jealousy.

What is far worse, however, is the bigoted, mean-spirited hatred -- that is, genuine prejudice and intolerance -- expressed towards more important social issues. Take the Joakim story, for example. It's shameful how many people trot out the tired old argument of "well, uhh, f***** isn't necessarily a homophobic slur...it could also mean a cigarette or a bundle of sticks." The same thing happened when Kobe did it. It's repulsive. As one of the Internet's absolute best sports sites, it'd be great if more of RealGM's community tried to dispel the stereotype of the ignorant, knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing sports fan.

If you want to hate the Heat, fine, go ahead. They're just a team of 15 basketball players. But don't hate an entire population of people.

I was having that debate over on the Bulls board. I like to think my definition of the term "****" as more progressive than the knuckle-dragging nitwits who think it's a gay slur. Hell, when I was a kid I was calling people **** for years before someone said "don't make fun of gay people like that." I had no idea **** was a gay slur.
