We only have HCA in the finals because of that win @Toronto

Post#1 » by salqaddoumi » Fri May 27, 2011 5:30 am

How incredible is that? We all kept saying it's not worth it to play our starters because there's no way the Mavs would even make it to the finals and we ended up resting them and having Mario/Juwan/House go berserk and getting us a win that night.

I was thinking about that as the playoffs were starting. I thought it was quite disrespectful at the time. It's a good thing that Toronto game ended up going our way.

I started thinking about this after the respective Game 3s. You couldn't have gotten me to believe it would have mattered beforehand.

Big thx to FEH, Big Cat and Juwan.

I'll be honest, I was among those that felt the game had no meaning, now that win might just end up being the most important of the regular season.

House - 35 points, 14-27 shooting including 7-13 from 3.

Magloire - 8 points, 19 rebounds

Howard - 18 points, 6 rebounds, 7-12 shooting

Good job scrubs. And thank you Raptors for sucking, as usual.

I love the Toronto Raptors.

* We beat them in the last game of the 02-03 season, meaning they got the higher pick and we had to "settle" for Wade instead of Bosh.

* We managed to unload Marion and Banks for JO and a 1st round pick, effectively clearing the slate for 2010 free agency.

* We then signed Chris Bosh from them, AND used their 1st round pick to complete the sign and trade.

* We beat them in an almost meaningless game to end this season to secure HCA in the Finals.

Again, I ****ing love the Toronto Raptors. Thank you Canada.

Heh. Good times.

Amazing that game turned out to be relevant. It seemed such an impossibility at the time. Ups to the bottom of the bench. 15 strong ain't no jive.

Eddie House is lucky he's on the team, there are much better options than him.

Not that it ultimately mattered, we were destined to get both.

Actually, I love how all our guys have contributed. Obviously the Big 3, the return of Haslem and Miller, Joel Anthony in the first two series, Chalmers in a couple of games (often under the radar), James Jones a few times but especially Game 1 against Boston, Bibby somehow bothered Rose, House-Howard-Magloire in that Toronto game to clinch HCA in the Finals, and Z and Damp were starters for us most of the year. Hell, even Pittman was around for Haslem to spar with as he was trying to come back from the injury. 15 strong.

The closest house is going to get to the game is the bench. Dude is lucky he is getting a front row seat for the finals.

is it only me who don't want HCA??
you know dude i think if we play game 1 in dallas i'm
more confident that heat will sweep this series or maybe 4-1 again..idk why I'm thinking this.

2-3-2 is weird in that at first glance it seems to favor the lower seed, but look at it this way, EVEN if Dallas gets a split in the first two games, they will feel like each of those 3 home games for them is a must-win. Clinching on the road late in a series is ridiculously hard.

I know Dallas has been insanely clutch this postseason, but they know we have too, and I doubt they want to let Wade and LeBron have a chance to be two consecutive home wins, with the lights shining their brightest, from winning the title.

I'm feeling confident about our chances, but I think this is going to be an epic shootout for at least 6 games. In a way, I'm glad that LA fell (even though I wanted to dethrone the champs), because Dallas is the only town in the Western Conference that hates us as much as Boston and Chicago did this season. And we all know how our guys have responded to those situations.

Dude I'm right with you! Crazy to think that our favorite hockey and basketball teams are in the finals the same year. Here's hoping to continued success for both!

No, I think I was the original Canadian poster, probably around the time Wade came back for his epic return season.

No problem guys, we needed that loss and we were **** scared we might actually win that one if you rest your starters. With that loss, we broke away from Washington for a worse record and that meant the difference between 5th and 6th picks, and now you have home court in the finals.
