because in America we base things on the past that is why Harvard, Kobe Bryant, ect are so over rated.

Because your education is based of prestige. For example if I told a common person I graduated Harvard medical school they'd probably assume I am super smart. If I told a common person I graduated from John Hopkins or the University of San Fransico med school I'd be most likely be thought of as less than a Harvard grad. In reality though those schools are better for a medical education than Harvard. Though I won't get into why because this is a basketball forum .

Because people that vote do so by reputation or other political reasons. Few of them probably watch all the candidates so they don't even vote with knowledge or impartiality.

Legacy

Some guys just have 2003 Kobe in mind while they vote.

Kobe will have first times votes even after he retires.

Because this is America and we hand over lifetime achievement awards to people that we know are falling off and aren't the same anymore.

Hopefully these idiots stop gift wrapping Kobe undeserved selections next season. It's gone on long enough.
