HIF wrote:Green Hat it wouldn't matter whether you have been to every Miami game that was played - it doesn't stop you bitching about your team instead of supporting them. You could be a fan just not a very good fan IMO.
I guess you never had an internet connection before 2011. That's what makes you a bandwagon fan. You only signed up here when you thought that Miami would win it. I should probably be happy about that considering the amount of bitching that you've done about the team this year. I can't imagine what you would have said over the last few decades.
I didn't expect us to win it all this year - we had a two year start up plan. I'm happy and thankful that we are ahead of plan and the best team in the NBA.
I defend Spo because he is a great coach as almost everyone can see other than some bitching Miami supporters - as Barkley says Miami fans are whiny girls you seem to be evidence of that statement. I don't have a man crush on Spo - as if I need to write that - I just find the hate aimed at him and many of our players by supposed Miami Fans despicable.
I will continue to state my opinions on this forum until I'm banned or leave and I'm sure many other readers agree with my statements concerning whiners, bandwagoners and frontrunners but just don't want to state them as they see how anyone that does is hounded, ridiculed and despised.
If the mods decide that I've stepped over the line with my comments about pathetic Heat supporters (oh no wrong word they don't support) then I'll get banned - I accept that and then have many free hours to find other things to occupy them. Until then I will continue to air my views.
I'm pretty sure that after we win G6 and G7 the overreactors will celebrate and the whiners will pretend that they were always behind the Heat team. hopefully I'll be able to print the names and quotes of you and your friends after our G7 victory and before I get banned.
You maybe a fan but you're not a Heat supporter.
Of course it wouldn't matter to you if I've been to every game. Because in HIF's Cult of Spo and The Miami Heat the only thing that matters is signup dates and never questioning your master. Going to games doesn't matter because you don't (through no fault of your own) and you make the rules on who is worthy of joining HIF's Cult of Spo and The Miami Heat. Spo comes first because him looking good is more important in your Cult than the Heat succeeding.
I disagree with your notion that a good fan can never question the object of your fandom. A good fan knows their subject well enough to have minor quibbles. The greatest literary critiques of classic works come from the biggest fans because they know the work more intimately. The harshest musical critics can usually be found by a passionate fan who is displeased by a drop in performance or the failure to live up to potential. Who were the people complaining the loudest about the newer Star Wars films? The people who were the biggest Star Wars fans of course.
Again you try to attack me sarcastically with a false premise. While I obviously had internet before 2011, I did not have a job that gives me a lot of free time at a computer until... wait for it... January of this year. Before that I was owned my own business and was traveling way too much to be on the internet much at all. Right now I am being paid while typing this response, if I wasn't I would not be sitting in front of a computer. Also your accusation of me only signing up when I thought we would win it all holds no weight, because then I would have signed up back in 2004 when it first looked like we would win it all (Shaq's first year I thought we were gonna win it all).
If you didn't expect us to win it all this year, then you were completely wrong and that might be why you are so accepting of sub par play, your expectations were artificially low because you judged the talent of this team incorrectly. Most of us could tell that this was a championship caliber team, I guess you didn't notice.
But I did, and so did Lebron, Wade, Haslem, Riley and even your boy Spo. All of them went into this season expecting a championship, while you were not with us and were expecting a two year rebuild.
Again you claim that I hate Spo, just like I hate Miller and everyone else in the Heat organization. But I just defended Spo this morning to a Heat Fan. Can't you see that there is a difference between not thinking that Spo is "great" and "hating" him? I fall in between those two groups which is why I have arguments with both groups. I think he is an average-ish coach who has some plusses but has some faults and makes some mistakes. I think thats a perfectly reasonable position to take and your accusations that I hate Spo are unfounded.
One key difference between how me and you see the situation it is that I think we are a great team with an average coach while you thought we were a team in the middle of a "two year start up plan" with a GREAT coach.
Your argument that because you haven't been banned gives your views weight is laughable. All these people who you are whining and bitching about haven't been banned either so why don't you afford them the same respect that you seek? You complain about being hounded, ridiculed and despised while doing those exact same things. You are a hypocrite and most of your arguments are paradoxically hypocritical.
After we win G6 and G7 will you also post your posts about how it would take a miracle for us to win and that we are in the middle of a two year start up plan? Of course you won't because that is you. I would love for you to post any of my posts after we win because unlike you I have thought that we should win it all, the whole year.
I guess you just didn't support the team until you knew we had the best team /sarcasm
I am a Heat fan and a Heat supporter. I've supported this team through the thick and thin. I was THERE when we won it all and I was THERE when we were asked to move into one section so that they could film a commercial with one full section in the Pre-Wade years when the AAA was less than half full for most games. And I'll be THERE when this season ends, one way or another.
The difference between us is that you are a settler and I am a perfectionist. Throughout my life I have always wanted to be better, even in aspects that were already pretty good. You are satisfied if we lose because you thought we were in a two year start up plan while I think us losing would be a failure because we have the best team. Even if we do win it all, I'll still want us to play better, thats just me. I know we can never be perfect, but we can always be better.
Its a good thing that Haslem, Riley and Wade share my mentality instead of yours. If Haslem didn't always strive to be better he'd be playing in some crappy French league right now instead of in the NBA. If Riley didn't always strive to be champions we'd be a pretty good treadmill team. If Wade thought like you he'd be an all star player instead of an all time great.
Its a good thing for both of our sakes they think like me and not like you. If you don't think I am a "supporter" for not thinking that we are right on every decision that we make and thinking that we can be better, then thats fine. I'm a supporter of a team, not a cult.
