Shaq arrived in Parade, promised ring, why no hate?
Remember when Shaq arrived in Miami? He drove a big diesel truck down the road to the arena, there was a big parade and press conference type announcement as well.
Then in the conference, he promised that he would bring us a championship.
Why did the media not make it a huge controversy and why did fans not hate him? He left Orlando after they got close to chase a ring in L.A. with better players, then left L.A. to go chase a ring in Miami with Wade.
Then he left Miami to chase a ring with the Suns that were looking close to a ring, then to tag along Lebron that was close and then to the Celtics that won 1 and could win more.
Shaq is not loyal at all, and was never loyal in his career, he chased rings and never won one in his original uniform.
Why is it OK for one guy and not Ok for Lebron?
Also, Shaq won here in his 2nd year, I think Lebron will do the same.

Because Kobe was the villain and Shaq was the good guy then.

Re: Shaq arrived in Parade, promised ring, why no hate?
Well.. because Shaq eventually got 3 Final MVP's and was proven BEFORE he came to Miami.
Yeah Shaq was a ring chaser and he left Orlando to get them. But that was all forgotten when he started to win and built a dynasty with Kobe.
Nobody even remembers when Kobe demanded a trade when they had their rebuilding drought. After getting to the Finals 3 times, and winning back to back, it's all forgotten.
LeBron is going to have to win for people to actually give him respect :\

But I mean when Shaq had 0 rings and left Orlando to go to LA. Why didn't the media and guys like Barkley remember that Shaq did the same exact thing Lebron did? Get to the finals with his original team, fail, then leave to a new team.
They say Jordan never did it, blah blah blah....
But, Shaq did it. Then he did it again and again. But, they don't dare say anything about it because he has 4 rings to show for it.
Once Lebron gets his rings i feel like the media will have to respect him and this will all be forgotten. The ones that say his legacy is tarnished forever are a joke and miserable about their own failure careers IMO.
Marc Jackson said Wade and Lebron will forever be tarnished and can never recover from this loss. That is a load of BS and he will pay for it when we play him, I guarantee that. Barkley as well is a joke, they make it seem as though if we lost this year, anything we do after doesn't count.
We will show them all!!! MWAHAHAHHAHA

Well for one Shaq left a Orlando team that was just as if not more talented then what was in LA at the time (Kobe had just been/was not drafted yet, and no one knew what he would become) so really he took a step back on the court but a step ahead in the "hollywood" life. Second Shaq was already a proven winner and most dominant figure in the NBA both on and off court when he came to Miami not to mention he was traded to Miami because he was run out of town.
Last, I am not a hater of the heat just wanting to state the obvious, if Lebron didn't declare a dynasty before they even practiced, if he did the "decision" differently, if he didn't tattoo "chosen 1" and "gifted child" on his body, if he didn't make fun of Dirk (with Wade) and if he didn't quit on his team (cavs) and constantly blame teammates, none of this hate would be here for him (he is actually the most popular athlete (Jersey sells) and has a ton of fans, some people are just turned off by his actions.
I do believe the hate he gets is a lot of the time unwarrented but he also did bring a little of this on himself... didn't he?

Re: Shaq arrived in Parade, promised ring, why no hate?
The media will never respect LeBron if he gets a ring. He has to get Finals MVP or else they will say he needed Wade.
Then if he does get Finals MVP... they'll still say he needed Wade.
However you look at it, it is a lose-lose situation for him.
If Shaq didn't get those Finals MVP, they would have said he needed Kobe if Kobe got the Finals MVP.
Nowadays they say Kobe's 3 rings are tainted because he had Shaq.
It's always something lol

Easy. Beside the fact that the two situations have some big differences, Shaq is very likeable while
Lebron is not. Many Heat fans may not see it, but he does and says things that make it very hard for most people throughout the country to root for him.

I think there's a Jordan or Jordan-era Bulls player clip of them promising a crazy amount of championships as well....it was from one of the Bulls championship DVD's but damn I can't remember which one.

Re: Shaq arrived in Parade, promised ring, why no hate?
Why should there be any hate, are we at that stage where we either like or hate a player? we lost, that's it, end of story, we went further than any other team in the NBA except Dallas...period
Lebron James didn't make the HEAT, we'll lace em up next year...I am sure that everything will be looked at, but no matter, i'll get my LP as usual, get excited as usual, curse at the TV a little, but I will never HATE anything that didn't go my way in a game I cannot control.

Shaq didn't come to Miami to play with Wade - he was traded there... and at that point, Shaq was one of, the best few players in the League - Wade was a rookie the year before. He also went to Los Angeles to be The Man - and he delivered.

Shaq demanded a trade from LA and basically dictated which team he wanted to play on: Dallas and Miami were both options at the top of this list. I think Cleveland was mentioned at the time but he dismissed it because he wanted a warm weather city. What it came down to was Miami had the pieces to make the trade along with being in the East so that LA wouldn't have to face him in their conference. Make no mistake, Miami was a top option BECAUSE OF WADE. He declared that the Heat were Wade's team when he signed. He wouldn't have said that if he didn't think Wade was worthy of the praise coming off his rookie campaign.

But it took until Shaq's fourth season with the Lakers at the age of 27, following three consecutive playoff sweeps at the hands of the Jazz twice (semifinals, WCF) and the Spurs once (semifinals), before he ultimately delivered anything.

Re: Shaq arrived in Parade, promised ring, why no hate?
My main point is Shaq left Orlando after they made it to the Finals. He abandoned the franchise that drafted him way too soon you could say and in his prime. It would be like Dwight Howard leaving right now and joining the Bulls or Lakers.
He joined I believe it was Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Divac and a lot of good players in LA because he thought they would build a better team for him faster since LA has so many titles in their history.
It is very similar to what James did.
I guess the media just hates Lebron and to the guy that said Lebron says things that make him hated.... To me he has always been very honest, humble and a likeable person that has no history of any crimes or wrongdoing in any way at all, why would people hat that? He does not brag or talk smack, the south beach thing is the only ting i can really say that would make people hate him, but that is only due to jealousy that he has set himself up to beat all the other teams.

No he left Orlando after they got swept by the bulls in East finals.

Its nothing like what James did. Shaq didnt leave because he though he cant win title with Magic and he can with L.A. It has NOTHING to do with it.U have no clue what are you talking about.
He left because L.A. offered him a lot more money, and he wanted to go to Hollywood(shoot movies, etc.) At that point Orlando had a better team than L.A. Divac was traded for 18years old Bryant.

When did shaq air "The Decision" on ESPN? I must of been under a rock or something.
Lebron's arrogance and immaturity is what people hate You're all idiots too for being arrogant before the season even started

Re: Shaq arrived in Parade, promised ring, why no hate?
Lebron is the unluckiest guy in the planet. it is always the failures, the haters focus on. lebron told this after the game 3 or 4 i think. they pray like mads for the failure of lebron and when the time he fails comes, they start to use the same 3-4 arguments against him and they end up with lebron's loserness.
arrogance, hmm. why all the people are expected to be modest? i hate this opininon . you want everybody to be the same, you insist on streotyping again and again. he is lebron man, you should accept this. his tattoos are the problems? even if this is the problem, yesterday he has already admitted that he failed in the series. he got his answers lots of times.
anyway this is not a fully lebron topic but i am really fed up seeing the same arguments about that man. leave him alone guys. you can hate him as much as you can, but still there will be no changes in your life because of lebron. you always except him to win but are you always a winner at all?
