LeBron vs. Rose/ LeBron vs. Terry

Post#1 » by ecnirp » Thu Jun 16, 2011 2:44 pm

No excuses. LeBron didnt play well.

But this is just talking about coaching points and the use of LeBron.

I agree with the thread about LeBron playing too many minutes. Especially in the 2nd half.

LeBron just down Terry earlier in the series. But I always felt....Having LeBron to guard Terry this series is going to wear him down.

Its like Spo decided LeBron will do to Terry like he did to Rose. The difference is Rose was not running off of screens. LeBron could bully Rose when Rose would have the ball. The Mavs coach used Terry like Ray Allen. We saw the after effects of DWade with him chasing Ray Allen in the next series against the Bulls.

Its just human nature. That a guy 260 chasing a guy 170 all over the court can drain your energy after playing 100 or so games.

LeBron blew it. But Coach Spo could have made some adjustments.

He actually would have worked less on defense if he's guarding Dirk (dont kill me yet). Not saying he would have stopped Dirk. But I wouldnt have mind seeing him guard him. That way you still have one of your best defenders guard Dirk. And he's not going to tire out as much.

Just a thought.

lebron also got more help guarding Rose.

Against Dallas there were times when you could not leave your man i.e. a lineup of Chandler, Dirk, Terry, Kidd, Barrea

So outside of the man guarding Tyson you had to play honest defense.

Against Chicago you could sag off Noah, Boozer, Brewer and Bogans.

But the honest truth is no great defensive player can consistently stop a great offensive player 1 on 1.

Rick Carlisle is a different coach than Thibs.

After watching the 1st game, he adjusted the way Terry would get the ball.
Stop being so disrespectful.

Carlisle definitely deserves much of the credit. Most coaches would have been too afraid to sacrifice defense for offense against the heats big 3.

Yeah, it's because of Carlisle.

Terry was running around like Ray Allen and people were cutting off LeBron.

Spo was an idiot thinking LeBron was super man, he did need rest.

LeBron looked so hesitant and stagnant out there though. Also there were times where Terry did blow by him.

He lost his legs at the end of games.

Rose didn't run off of screens, and even if he did there was some good hedging. However, yeah Carlisle is a better OFFENSIVE coach then Thibs. THibs only cares about defense.

I read Bulls fans complaining about Thibs. He may be the coach of the year and all, but his substitutions are just as bad and he'd say things like "the offense will take care of it's self". Luckily for the Heat, there's LBJ and Wade who can make some tough shots but Rose is a shorter and his jumpshot is whack. They really did need another scorer. To me that was Deng but I guess not. We'll see what happens when they get a real SG.

I thought Wade or Terry was better. Wade is more versatile and wasn't hesitant. Wade's offensive game was really needed though and he was just getting back his legs.

Meh... everything is said and done... who knows what could have happened if Heat have some real personnel to guard. Not Eddie House..

Sometimes things just work.

It was not only because he was free to shoot. All his bad shoots were falling. He made some off-balance shoots he'd miss 95% of time.

It happens, part of the game.

It's not as simple as Lebron vs Rose / Lebron vs Terry. Mavericks had too many guards that can create. Lebron was switched around multiple times. That Terry/Kidd/Barea/ combo was just too much, especially all at once. Not to mention you still have to respect Dirk and Chandler.
