Baron Davis?

I was listening to the Sedano show as usual this morning on the way into work, and they were discussing how the Cavs are looking to trade Davis and/or Sessions to clear rebuilding room and because they plan on taking Irving at #1 next week, but Davis may end up being a buyout/amnesty candidate depending on what happens with the new CBA. Now granted those guys aren't capologists and were just throwing ideas around, but it got me thinking:

How would you feel about throwing the MLE at Davis if we strike out on Dalembert? He's certainly got his question marks, but I think it's inarguable that he'd be a massive upgrade over anyone we've trotted out as a starting PG this year.

Baron Davis needs the ball in his hands to be effective. We already have two guys like that, so I don't think a third would be the answer. If what you're talking about happens, I see LA picking up B-Diddy. He's athletic and can provide that spark they need.

I would defineltly take Baron Davis if we are able to obtain him. But I dont think thats easy. His contract is a big issue, and trading for him doesnt look possible. He still a very good player, he can shoot and knows how to push the rock. He not the great finisher any longer but he still a decent one. He is more than a threat at the three point line and moves pretty well off the ball. He always been a player who can play defense in small spurts, but he way better than Bibby. I do believe coming here will motivate him to get in shape so that not my concern. The contract issue is, and how could we obtain him. I dont really see it being possible.

When the Cavs look to clear up their PG glut. They'll be trading Sessions and/or Gibson. Whats easier, trading someone making $12-14 mil a year or players making about $4mil a year.

The suggestion is that he could potentially be released of his contract, either via a buy-out, or an "amnesty release" if the new CBA allows teams to do that again. Miami obviously wouldn't trade for him with his current contract, because (1) it's a horrible contract, and (2) we'd have to send one of our big contracts in return.
