My Codolences To The Heat For Eddy Curry

As a Knicks fan I don't have to tell you guys how I feel about the Heat, but I really feel bad for you guys as fans if Riles is so desperate for a center that he would reach for Eddy Curry.
A source familiar with the situation confirmed Sunday to the Sun Sentinel that veteran center Eddy Curry has been working with the Miami Heat in recent days, as the Heat look at free-agent options.
Maybe if you guys can keep him away from Applebees, or Don Shula's Steak house he might work. But in the mean time good luck with fatso!

Seeing as today there are a lack of good Centers, it wouldn't be bad for Curry if he trims down drastically and works out with the Heat over the summer.
He's has always been a lazy Center though, not a lot of blocks or rebs for his size. But if he's willing to change, it can happen... maybe lol.
Sammy D is a bit expensive and Eddy Curry probably will join if Curry is cheaper and gets to like 8% body fat lol. Riley doesn't joke around when it comes to body fat.

I actually like that he's being worked on so no condolences are necessary.

Wasn't it Quentin Richardson that left NY as a fatty and arrived in Miami fit & trim?
I remember Knick fans being upset.

I'd lol If Eddy suddenly gets into shape and becomes a "decent" center then goes on to win a championship as the starting center just to see the look and posts of Knicks' fans.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/br ... 6456.storyThe Heat passed on Curry, 28, at that time, although his
6-foot-11, 285-pound bulk might have helped in the NBA Finals against Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler.
Due to conditioning and other issues, Curry has played only 10 games over the past three seasons, including none this past season. He earned $11.3 million this past season, but likely would have to return to the league at a minimal salary.
He is represented by the same agency that represents the Heat's LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.In April, Heat President Pat Riley, through a team spokesman, confirmed that Curry was one of "a half dozen" players the Heat had looked at, as part of a "big-picture" evaluation. The Heat is holding a similar evaluation of veteran free agents this week, in anticipation of a July 1 lockout start.
Curry spent the latter part of this past season working in Chicago under noted trainer Tim Grover, who also works with Wade.

Just like a big turd can clog a toilet.
In both cases:

Who said we are depending on Curry lol. If Curry does get in shape then he would be an excellent addition to the roster. Even if we still sign Dalembert, have a scoring big in Curry coming off the bench would be an excellent addition. If our frontcourt look like this below, you will not be laughing.
PF: Chris Bosh/ Udonis Haslem/ Joel Anthony
C: Samuel Dalembert/ Eddy Curry/ Joel Anthony

Wasn't Eddy Curry like 300 + pounds recently?

even if Curry is in his ideal weight, his game doesn't fit coach D'Antoni's offense.
I'm glad D' Antoni is the Knicks coach. They will not win a championship with that style.

Gotta admit, I lol'ed when I saw this thread right under the "Pat Riley wants Heat younger, faster" thread.

If Tim Grover can't manage to get Eddy in shape, maybe we can all chip in and buy the big man one of these:

I say we sign him just to see Pittman and him go head-to-head in practices. It would be like watching a battle of two titans or ogres!

@truthiness! LOL!
But yeah the Heat aren't depending on him. They just want a Center that can actually fight for some rebs and be somewhat reliable. Big Z, Magloire, Damp, Joel (too short) didn't cut it at the position being so damn old. Dampier could have helped though, and Big Z, in the Finals because of Z's shooting and Damp's big body in the paint. But Heat settled for the midget Center.
Seeing as he's under the same agency as the Big 3 and has been working out for months with Tim Grover, it looks likely he can turn into the Heat's starting Center if Sammy D is too expensive...
If there's a lockout, it helps him even more. But I don't know about him getting into basketball conditioning shape in that amount of time. Pittman would back him up too. Funny both of them were severely overweight (if Curry comes).

Dont want, we already have an overweight center working hard to crack the rotation

Based on the way Miami plays, he would be a better and cheaper than Sam - I'd really like to see how he'd work with us in training camp. In the past, everybody has been raving about how Pat Riley has worked with retreads (Tim Bug, etc.)
I don't really think we can afford Dalembert. Still think we need an offensive adjustment, not gonna be sold on this teams offensive philosophy until i see something different, not someone different.

and how could or will he ever crack the rotation when we only rely on 3 guys for offense?

OMG, no way he's better than Sam, no matter what you mean by better.
Cheaper means nothing here. Either MLE is enough or it's not.
As soon as Dalembert can be signed through MLE, there's no choice to be made.

If there's any organization in basketball that can turn him the right way it's the Miami Heat. Just look at the track history here converting out of shape players into workhorses. I highly doubt this works out but why not give it a shot? Nothing to lose right now. There's a bit to gain even if it is a shot in the dark, though.
It's not like he's occupying a roster spot for next season. He's basically just trying out for a camp invite.
