Wing defense wasn't a problem for us. We need PG and C. I don't mind Battier for the vet min, but I don't think that's an option. Spending any part of the MLE on Battier at the expense of a C is a mistake. PEACE.

I think its pretty obvious dalembert won't take the mle if we're looking at battier.

I rather add more wing players that can stay in front of somebody instead of center.

Best perimeter defender is Lebron and the best playmaker is lebron, that means lebron playing 40 plus mins a game just so the Heat can stay in it.

Honestly, Dalembert or any center in the league most likely isn't gonna take 5 million a year, when they can get 3 times that somewhere else.

stock up on wing players and have faith in pittman, chalmers and cole. Contending teams gotta trust the young guys.

The Heat really don't have a choice.

i like a crunch time line up of wade battier bron ud bosh. you could switch almost anything and trap screens. i'd be satisfied with battier, kwame. perhaps even keeping miller.

:o

would love to get battier..but I think Dalembert should be our main priority, unless the Heat already got him in the bag and are looking at other players now that they locked up the center they needed

or

dalembert already said he won't sign for the mle :(

I'm hoping its the first theory though

 I would be thrilled if we end up getting Battier. Perimeter defense? Check. 3-point shooting? Check.

Over the past few days it seems that reports are suggesting Nene (No surprise) and Dalembert are out of our range. I would prefer a C, but Battier is not some crappy consolation prize. He's really good.

Get someone like Kwame, Jeff Foster, Przybilla, etc.

Edit:
2 wins away from the title last year. Haslem/Miller out most of the season, and not 100% in the playoff's. More quality depth, some internal improvement, and we're good.

Hopefully Pat has a trade that will net us a starting C & is using the mini mid lev of $3mil on him.
Say something like Anthony, & House for (C).
That way we could go over the $74mil cap.

One more thing. When you look at both Batier, & Dalembert in a pure talent sense, then its easy to see that Batiers is best for the buck.
In other words look at it like the draft, go for the best talent, over position of need.

I was afraid of that...after seeing chandler askin for 20mil, Dalembert would want around 10mil, since Chandler is not that much better than him.

I always thought battier would be the perfect type of player to end up on this team. He is a great team guy and knows how to win. I trust riley knows what he is doing and I think we will see several new additions to the roster but getting a player like battier or a grant hill type is a nice start.

I hope that not one of these top centers get more then $10mil . If they do then all these owners are full of crap after everything they said during the lock out.

Why would another team trade us a better center for Joel Anthony with the only incentive we are adding being House?

Why wouldn't they just keep that center then?

I don't mind Battier but I hope his signing won't keep us from signing a guy who can guard pgs (fulltime)

We don't know what's going on. Battier could be coming for the bi-annual exception with Dally in the bag at the MLE. If it's Battier for the full MLE then we're looking at guys like Pryzbilla, Foster, or Kwame.. And much more time at center for Bosh.

Either way, Battier would be a great addition but you can believe that if it's an MLE signing that it's because we got turned down...

Battier will be coming off the bench. If we sign Battier for anything other than the vet min, then for the 2nd year in a row, we'll be spending MLE money on someone coming off the pine. Meanwhile, our 2 need positions (as in the ones not already filled by the Big3) are gonna be filled again with vet min guys? That just sounds like Groundhog Day. Are we just gonna make a bunch of lateral moved and hope "Bron develops his post game?"

Pardon my pessimism, but if we don't get a good C and end up failing in some capacity this season, I hope the bandwagon doesn't dogpile on Bron again. The fanbase has collectively thrown him under the bus for the Finals despite having a support cast that's almost entirely retired now. We need a C. I'm almost offended by any other talk right now (though I know we have to fill all positions). PEACE.
