Poll: Byars vs Harris, Who Makes The Team?

Post#1 » by Heat_team02 » Tue Dec 20, 2011 2:07 pm

This should get very interesting because both are very close despite playing different positions. Both could make the team but only one can. Who will it be?

Harris has shown more defensively in addition to great scoring in both the scrimmage and the 1st preseason game.

I still think that Harris must have a good showing tomorrow to get a spot.

On top of that, most of our wings are more natural Small Forwards than Shooting Guards. The only shooting guard we really have other than Wade is House. And he is undersized.

Agreed. I'm ready to swap House for Harris and Juwan for Byars. Hopefully the young fellas can ball again. Byars is counting against our cap anyway. PEACE.

im not sure about Juwan, i thing we need his presence in the locker room and he'll be a good mentor to our young players.

but Hell Yes for cuting House (terrible) to clear a spot for Terrel Harris. not only is he yonger, healthier, bigger, much better defender, more upside and just all around a complete player on both sides of the court.
plus i cant stand House, a chucker with awful % that brings nothing else.

i do like Derrick Byars too, but we're already so loaded in the SF position with LBJ, Miller, battier, JJ..we really dont have playing time for him.

Chalmers Wade Lebron Bosh Joel
Cole Miller Battier Haslem Pittman
Howard Curry Jones House

I am sure that is the roster everyone is counting on. Lebron said after the game it is fun watching guys fight for the final 2 spots. Who is not safe?

I would cut House to keep both Byers and Harris. Get some young, hungry guys around. House was kindof an emergency point guard option. But it looks like Cole is not going to have any problems. Lets face it, the 14-15 spots are going to be seated way at the end of the bench. Lets see if we can diamond in the rough with these guys.

We have to keep Harris. We don't have draft picks, you can't afford to let talented young players slip through your grasp. If we develop him he could free up the trade asset we need to get a solid big man.

I'd give him a non-gtd contract, and keep him on with Curry. And then if something good pops up in free agency you can always cut one of them.

I don't think you can get rid of House either though. House was always ready last year no matter how long he say. And he did basically win us the 1st seed with that game against Toronto.

Honestly, I like both but....I hope neither.

I still hope we sign another C of some kind.

+1

Except I'm not nearly in love with them as you guys are. It was 1 preseason game.

Byars has always played that like. He can score from inside and outside, has post moves and can handle. Byars is a safer pick and is more consistent in his play style and ability throughout the years and he has more size.

Harris has more potential and upside. His biggest problem is that he was always passive and reluctant to pull the trigger even though he is a good shooter. Harris is also younger and has more room to grow his game than Byars and he has more speed..

Harris plays the 2 and Byars the 3 but you ahve to setup Harris as he does not create his own shot. Looking at our team dynamic we dont have much depth at the 2 but we have alot of depth at the 3

Harris wins because of the speed, potential and ability to add depth at the 2 spot but not because he is better right now than Byars.

House was always ready because he never saw a shot he didn't like. We would shot it from his seat at the end of the bench if he could get his hands on the ball. Lets develope Harris and let him walk like Dorrell.

I like both, they can both score in there own different ways and thats the thing. I think Harris will be a better fit because he catch and shot. Byars can create his own shot, but we don't need that and he wouldn't be able to do that with LeBron and Wade. So I would take Harris, evan thoe he probably wouldn't get any PT and I rather we have a center.

Always ready? More like always frantic, he basically throws up shots as soon as he touches the ball that ends up as bricks most nights. He really does offer nothing, so yes hes a guy who you could really just throw away. I'll admit, he did have that one great game against the Raptors though...garbage team on a care-free night..but a good game nonetheless.

Why do you all want Harris,

we had him here in Germany and dude, he sucked like ****.

Couldnt make it to play with an underaverage team in an underaverage league.

And thats not a century ago, more seems like yesterday.

The dude is not 20 anymore.

If he shoots and defends well tomorrow, the way he did in the first game and in the scrimmage, then he'll make a strong case. He may have stepped his game up since you last saw him...might. We'll see. Besides, House is also injured. PEACE.

Didn't vote cause I'd rather keep both.

Cut eddie for that extra spot.

Want to see more, but its critical that we have young guys with speed that are hungry playing against our starters in practice instead of guys that are at the end of the road and just collecting paychecks. Add to that the fact that we have almost no draft picks in the future and the new CBA pretty much forces us to find cheap labor as long as we have the big three, and it is important to have a two or three young developmental projects on the roster every year.

From a purely scoring standpoint, Derrick Byars is the better option. Harris seems more HEAT-ready, though. Byars' offensive game is smooth.

Harris.

Byars is good too, but Battier would relieve LeBron so.... rather take Harris who would relieve Wade instead of Miller since he's injured.

Both are great though.... and great defensively.

Whoa, a 20-0 vote right now in favor of Harris.

I also voted for him, but we'll have to see how he does during the next game. Also remember that Byars is 27 years old (28 in April) and that Harris is 24.

Neither guy is old, but as far as potential goes Harris has more room for improvement.
