Q: I know you get a ton of these questions, but what is the status of Eddy Curry? Has he been practicing? Does he look like he will be contributing to the Heat anytime soon? -- Ernest.
A: I had a chance to catch Eddy's workout Thursday and I can tell you they are working him out relentlessly, even two-a-day conditioning sessions on game days. I'm not saying the Heat are putting all their eggs in this basket, since they've been linked to some free-agent centers in recent days, but there clearly is a commitment to make this work.
When you look at Eddy, you see a player. In fact, watching Eddy and Dexter Pittman, I'm not sure that Eddy is not in better shape, with his larger frame. It will be interesting to see when or if the Heat are willing to take the next step and put him on the court.

^Good to hear. He's gotta earn that contract and get his ass back in shape so he can contribute.
Pittman isn't even seeing the court, so we're leaning on Joel too much. He's played 20 minutes each of the last 2 games, but that's still at least 5 minutes too long. Some might say 10.
It will be nice to get Curry in the starting lineup ASAP so we can get some more offensive production and rebounding from the start. PEACE.

sounds like Eddy is ready but the Heat are holding him out. I would like to see Eddy and Pittman get some run. Its important to develop and work in a low post game.

Personally I'm enjoying the amount f time we have been running the Bron UD Bosh backcourt, but it'll see being interesting to see Curry... Can't hurt much since we have Joel in there

Based on the Bobcats game it looks as if rebounding is our major issue and Eddy simply won't be able to contribute much in that aspect.
I still can't believe we start Joel Anthony though. Most one-dimensional player in the league all he does is block shots. He can't rebound, he has brick hands on offense, and he can't finish around the rim to save his life (although he has been working at that).

Man, I really want Curry to start playing, anything is better than Joel Anthony considering his D has gotten much worse than previous seasons, and that's the only thing he does.

Well Eddy should get some minutes in blowout situations, with Big Three resting. The guy at very worst can get 5-8 ppg and 5 rpg, worst case hes 6 fouls

Joel Anthony carreer per 36 = 5 pts 6 rbds 2.7 blks
Sean Williams carreer per 26 = 11 pts 9 rbds 3 blks
Joel anthony salary = 3 mil $
Sean williams salary = 1 mil $

Love my Chicago guys. I know we are rivals (Bulls and Heat) but I'd like to see Eddy do well. I remember him coming out of Thornwood HS. It just seemed like he was destined to be a 30ppg scorer in the NBA. He was a former gymnast who could do standing back flips. Some flashes on the Bulls he looked so offensively dominate that I never could have imagined him being out of the league in just a short few years.
But while his skill level was off the charts -- his killer mentality was non-existent. Eddy is too nice of a person. Even in HS he didn't average double figure rebounds. Schaumburg HS (a team of fundamentally solid white boys) knocked off Thornwood in the State Championship. Quite honestly I feel bad for the guy. Between personal tragedy, insane amounts of financial mismanagement, and poor conditioning/lack of motivation -- it's just a sad story.
Not pulling for you guys obviously but I'm pulling for him.

I hate Joel and I'd still easily take him at 3 million over Williams at 1 million. Williams is a low bball IQ idiot. Joel's bball IQ isn't great, but he's coachable as hell and gives amazing effort.

I second this. Also a Chicago guy and know that Eddy could have and should have been a star. In fact I believe if he hadn't been drafted by the Titanic that was the Bulls, he would have had a much different and prosperous career. I actually come to your board in hopes of catching some good news on Eddy. Good luck to him.

I saw Eddy in a New Years picture. Eddy will always be a big boned husky guy based on genetics but he looked like he dropped significant weight in my opinion. What do you guys think? Here is a link to the picture he poster last night.

Really hope that Eddy and the Heat can prove a lot of us, including me wrong on this test. I think they're wasting their time with him and could've gotten a better center, and still could with Przybilla. But I still have faith in Riley, he seems to know what he's doing.

Erik Spoelstra on Eddy Curry, "He is getting better and healthier. He is getting in much better condition. We're not rushing it. You can visually see his progress."

Q: Is Eddy Curry or Dexter Pittman our next Ike Austin? Riley has such a knack at resurrecting the lost careers of big men. -- Paul.
A: Eddy Curry doesn't need to be the next Ike Austin, he simply needs to be the Eddy Curry who had his moments earlier in his career with the Bulls and Knicks.

On the Heat Live video chat today, Brian Windhorst said he thinks Eddy lost another 20 pounds since the start of camp. He thinks he's a month or so away from being able to contribute. PEACE.

Riley and Co. see the big picture with Eddy Curry. They know that Eddy is going to be rusty and low on confidence, if they can build him up during practice, get his cardio right and mind right we have ourselfs a big piece. What we can't have is Eddy play and look terrible, which could cause Eddy to lose his drive.
