Riley's new philosophy worked out in such a huge way.
Last season - fill the roster with old veterans.
This season - scout well, and fill the roster with fresh young legs.
It has made us a DEEP TEAM this year!
Harris - guy is a keeper!
Cole - enough said.
Even though Battier is 32-33, he proved his worth tonight.
Now, having $5 mil sitting on the bench in the shape of Mike Miller for the 2nd straight season doesn't hurt as bad.

I've never been more proud of this team during the regular season. Tonight's game will be a huge confidence booster for us. We're not just the Big 3 + a bunch of role players, we're the MIAMI HEAT. We're a TEAM.

Need the young legs this year. They're kinda lucky it's a compressed season cause I don't think in a normal year they'd ever see the court unless it was garbage time.

Re: Riley's new philosophy worked out in such a huge way.
Battier blocked Johnson LMAOOOO I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT
a lot of people were upset that Eddie was let go, but I hope this changes peoples minds.
Harris actually plays defense and dude was outrebounding EVERYONE out there. And he's just a freakin' guard LOL.
I'm so glad Pat went with the young guns and not old people.
We would have been blown out if it was people like Bibby, Big Z, etc etc... JUWAN if he got more minutes...
Pittman, Harris, Cole (he was erratic but had 5 assists, he tried to do way too much) was GOLDEN.
Great to have UD back had full strength too.
Rio stepping up too.

If we get just One of these things to happen
1- curry provides some solid minutes
2 - Harris gets the confidence to rotate in and play (tonight was huge stepping stone)
3 - miller comes back in a form we haven't seen yet with the Heat
4 (edit) I forgot about Pittman. He had some great moments tonight. Can he do it more often??
5-Haslem starts making the mid range
Our team is gonna get even deeper. Cole was a gift. Can we get another????

I only watched the 2nd half on, but man, how did 6'5 Harris get as many blocks as 6'11 Bosh? AWESOME end to this game.

And yet...Juwan Howard still happens to find his way onto the court. I don't understand that at all. Once he's gone, this team will be complete. PEACE.

Im starting to cool on norris cole... He needs to take his pull jumpers and floaters and stop trying to finish at the rim.

it's for the young guys. He should be a locker presence but never see the court. Pittman should take all his minutes
UD and Pittman was a GREAT frontcourt.

He's learning how to adjust to the nba speed and size, give him time and by the end of the season, he'll do wonders for this team.

Cole couldn't control his speed tonight lmao, he was WIIILLLDDD. He's learning, give him time. He still had 9 points and 5 assists off the bench.
When him and Pittman were in, the Heat went on a nice run and the energy was amazing. It cooled down of course... thanks to.. WILLIE GREEN?! lol
but yeah, Cole tends to go up to 2-4 defenders twice his size, he'll learn from the best in Wade and LBJ who know a thing or two about driving.
He'll learn how to finish too. He has the work ethic.

Great win for us. We now are truly a team. We pulled a victory without Lebron and Wade. Can't imagine what we would do to teams with Wade playing his A game.

It looks great on paper.
but for whatever reason, this big 3 has not lived up to expectations.

Wait, what? A finals appearance in their first year together?

If you watch the game its tough to see why Howard is on the team. He doesn't help or hurt the team. Now after to being to three games, and see it's not a fluke, Howard is literally a player coach. He is always talking to the young guys and giving them advice and such. Last night after Cole made that boneheaded drive which resulted in charge there was a tv timeout shortly after, guess whose there talking to Norris, Mr Howard.
Gladness shouldn't be on this roster nor be in the NBA the man is awful, besides that everyone else is extremely solid and has well defined roles. Also Pittman is definitely gets clowned on the most by DWade and LeBron.

As good as the young guys in the bench are we still have a huge gap in the center position, BOSH can give you 18-20 minutes out muscle and Joel can give you 25-30 after that Pitman/Juan are not going to get the job done against Orlando/Lakers...

oh come on it was against the Hawks. The Hawks are super bipolar. Play like a top 3 eastern conf. team one day, play like an 8th seed.
The team still isn't deep enough, it is built like the Bulls, still offensively handicapped.
I don't buy it.
Chalmers still was a complete bonehead.
Hawks more or less loss this game than the Heat won it.
Both teams played poorly.
Shane still can't shoot.
Terrell Harris played decent. He should play regularly.
I am not worried the center position.
76ers got the best bench in the NBA still.

No, given the talent we had, we played solid basketball. You have to understand, it's not that easy to find open baskets in an offense which is created for players who create off the dribble a lot. The scoring droughts we had during the game were mostly created by our inability to create a shot due to having too many limited players, such as James Jones, on the court.
Also, we had some really good stretches defensively, rotating to every guy on time and forcing them into bad shots. The Hawks definitely had one of their worse nights, but we kinda forced them into it as well by simply annoying them with our energy and our good ball movement.
The win was a little lucky, of course, given how terrible our last play at the end of the 4th was, but with this unit, I'll take it. We still obviously don't have such a great bench, but I suppose the OP's point wasn't to claim how great our second unit was, but to simply point out how much better it is than last year's, which it is.

Bang! someone gets it. It is not always about talent, numbers, speed, athleticism (leave that for Harris, Cole and Pittman). You need brains, experience and toughness on a roster and Howard has all of those. I love the balance we have with this seasons roster. Last season we had way too many old veterans and having too many young guys is not a solution either.
