Tomasson: LeBron finds 'big brother' in Hakeem Olajuwon

"He's doing fantastic," Olajuwon said. "He should (win MVP), no question about it. The statistics speak for themselves."
But Olajuwon still believes James, 27, is just scratching the surface. With some further work, he anticipates James will be even better.
"I knew he recorded everything we worked on," Olajuwon said. "I know he's practiced it. I can see that. But the comfort level, when you get into the competition, you start playing to your strengths, which is more of (an) outside (game). I see him post up. But I still see a lot of opportunities there. He's not capitalizing as much as he should. He needs more of a refresher course where he can become more comfortable. I see him (improving his post game), but he needs more time."
Chris Tomasson,
Fox Sports Florida
A great article that gives a real in-depth look at the relationship between Olajuwon and LeBron.

my mind cannot even begin to comprehend how scary the thought of lebron james improving as a player will be.
right now hes just a pure beast on both sides of the court but if he truly adds a dominant post game to his arsenal (which he is slowly doing) then i dont understand how any 1 player will be able to guard him let alone 2. lets not forget how great of a passer lebron is. hes shown glimpses this season of how much of a threat he can be passing from the post.
god im so grateful to the miami heat franchise. not only do they give us d-jesus, who is a marvel in his own right but i wont get into it to keep this short, but they also give us lebron who is a legend in the making. if we can hopefully keep this core together for the next 5-6 seasons and they stay relatively healthy than we as fans can claim to have seen one of the greatest eras of bball ever.

Pat Riley is a BB Mafia. Genius. Nuff said.

His post game is really making him an unstoppable force. It also seems like his defense is just lights out. Scary stuff, for other teams, lol.

I feel like moreso than guys like Magic, Bird, Michael--Hakeem is a guy who Lebron can benefit a lot from, not just low post game, but just growing up as a man. It would be cool if they developed a kind of mentor relationship like KG did with Bill Russell. Plus I think Hakeem's all around game is something that Lebron can learn a lot from.
I wonder if they talked about defense at all?
Hakeem is the one guy I feel like if he had played Jordan in the finals would have beat him. Bulls ALWAYS had trouble with the Rockets in the regular season. Hakeem kept Pippen and Jordan out of the paint, and dominated the Bulls stiffs.

Indeed he's a very nice person. Probably one of the most humble NBA legends you'll ever meet. I think Lebron can learn a lot from him. He was also VERY wise at investing whatever money he made too. He didn't use his money for gambling like MJ lol. It would have taken a game 7 buzzer beater for MJ to beat him in the finals.
He was such a force, especially after Drexler joined him. If you double or triple teamed him, Kenny Smith was ready to tear you to shreds from the 3pt line lol.
