Mario Chalmers - Out Of Gas?

Well Mario started off the season well enough with these impressive stats:
Month of January: 201 points scored.
Then February rolled around as he chugged along
Month of February: 134 points scored.
Then March came along and something happened to Mario.
Month of March : 86 points scored. 33%FG
Here are his 3PT Percentages
Month of January: 41%
Month of February: 49%
Month of March: 31%
I have also noticed the bonehead plays that we have come to know of him re-emerge with lazy passes, sub-par defense and last night was no exception when he threw that lazy bounce pass that was intercepted. Lebron was seen barking at Chalmers with Chalmers barking back & ending up on the bench. Chalmers could be seen tossing something in disgust and did not re-enter the game.
Is it time for gulp!, Anthony Carter?

imo everyone besides lebron and wade has played absolutely terrible since the all star break. both on defense and offense. yesterday we were relying on battier to make his 3s to even stay in the game.
just atrocious basketball, the wins we have managed have been either by pure luck or due to playing vastly inferior teams talent wise. the thunder gave us a shellacking and thats what we deserved. i say put cole into the starting lineup and teach chalmers a lesson

Rio will be fine. Have some faith that he'll turn it around.
Every player has slumps. Every team has slumps.
We'll pull through.
Miami Heat Swag.

I think at the beginning he was like I need to play better because of this young fella behind me
Now he's like, this dude sucks, back to being mediocre

BOTH Cole and Chalmers have sucked so bad. I don't know what it is, but they need to pick it up.
I was so proud of Rio and his progressed. But he's back to playing like an idiot like last year. When he plays well, so do we. We need his early game 3's.
Cole... I want to trade him for something better in a package... he's undersized and it shows. Might as well get friggin Nate Robinson. Who actually has been playing better than Cole

Last I recall, Mike James left Miami on not so very good terms. He had a few words to say about Heat practices.

Out of gas and a single digit IQ? That's not a good combination for the "star" out of Kansas.
Is it time for gulp!, Anthony Carter?
Yes, yes it is.
Good thread OP, I was about to start a similar one. It's not a reaction to last night's game but a pattern that's been holding up for at least one month now. Chalmers is sucking, Cole is sucking.
People are afraid a vet PG will be Bibby part 2. The problem with Bibby is that he was worthless half the game (Defense) and the only thing he had going for him was his ability to shoot. Well he lost that ability to shoot and ended up looking like he didn't even belong in the D-League.
Defense should for the most part be constant - Carter provides that. Any offense is just a bonus.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
This is exactly what it is. Chalmers played out of his mind because he was in fear of losing his starting job after signing his long term contract. Once Cole went into the tank and it became clear that Chalmers could not lose his spot even if he tried (and he has), he exhaled.
Cole, in my opinion, needs to be extracted from the rotation. He makes poor decisions on when to shoot and when to pass, when to push the ball and when to set up the offense. His drives to the basket are typically as unsuccessful as they are ill advised, and he is the most unreliable shooter on the team. Perhaps once Miller returns (from what must have been the worst ankle sprain in the history of ankle sprains) the Heat should experiment with starting the big lineup and making Chalmers the back up.

Cole is very capable, i just wish that he would understand that his future with this team is as a defensive floor general ala rondo. He needs to focus on passing and stop shooting bricks. He got all the tools but he might just be a little immature to get it.
Chalmers feet are like stuck in concrete, he couldn't dance samba if he wanted to.

Just don't forget Cole hasn't had Summer league, training camp, or that many practices to develop his game for the NBA. I think he'll be a lot better next year once the coaches get a chance to work with him. He seems like a hard worker, and very intelligent. If Rio **** around next year, at all I think Cole will take his job.
As for Rio, just a slump. Everyone gets them. Lebron's in a slump right now too. Half our team is. Except Haslem, who has found his shot.

I don't think Chalmers has had as many great looks as he did earlier in the season. At the start of the season he was consistently getting wide open jump shots from 3. At the moment it seem he has to work a lot harder for his shot.

I dunno, he's still getting wide open looks. Even if he's not there's no excuse for sub 30 percent shooting. Him and Cole need to be coming to games early like Battier and Lebron to bust out of their slumps. I wonder if Rio is carrying an injury. Didn't he injure his angle coming out of the all-star break or something? Wonder if that screwed up his mechanics at all?

Both Mario and Cole went from being huge assets to this team to huge liabilities.
Hell it almost seems as if the entire team has seriously regressed since the AS break.
The whole team is just in a big ass slump right now...

Look man, we need a better point guard, doesn't have to be a vet. Get a point guard out of the D league who can shoot, and penetrate and dish, athleticism preferred
The way I see It, whether Mario is playing well or not, his backup is cole and cole cant handle it. Get someone else because making lebron play point will take him out the post and we don't want that
Both cole and rio are fatigued and suck, get another point guard or accept we will lose in the playoffs

Oh please stop panicking we were 2 games away from winning the whole thing with MIKE FREAKING BIBBY as our starting PG. I'd rather take a slumping Mario AND Cole over old knees Bibby.
Mario and Cole are just in a slump.
