Mods, if you do not see this thread worthy, then move it where you find suitable. I figured a new thread on this matter would go more noticed and possibly calm some the hysteria that many, including myself, experienced over this hump of horrible road showings from the team.

@tomhaberstroh: Heat practice ran around 90 minutes longer than usual. Went thru an extra long film session dissecting every play yesterday.

Was only a matter of time until RIley intervened.

It was my impression that Pat Riley always attends practices....He just happens to leave before the media is allowed in.

Yeah, I saw that in one of the tweets I quoted. Strangely, the other tweets don't seem to acknowledge it really. Maybe he attends practice regularly, but does not really take note of everything/possibly force a longer practice like he could have today?

@Heat3: yeah that could be possible. Riley was never really a huge fan of the media, especially the social media.

If he paid extra-attention, it was probably just to give the guys a silent reminder of what they're there for. His sales pitch to the Big3 involved flashing some bling, and you know he wants more. He's got as much of a stake in this as them. PEACE.

Yeah I'm pretty sure unless Pat is blind, he knows that there's nothing wrong with what Spo is coaching, it's how the guys are implementing it after the all-star break.

I agree the main point of him showing up was probably to flash the bling and remind these guys what they're playing for and why they came together.

I feel like the team has lost focus post all-star break, we just need to get over the hump and get going again on the road. It's only on the road where we've had problems.

I don't usually post here, mostly a reader, but have been following a few of the threads and you seem to be the only Spo fan. Something tells me this is an account held by the master himself. Spo come on man, is it you?

I like to read your posts, but in response to "give the guys a silent reminder what they're there for" - the guys that are the focus of the team SHOULD NOT have to be reminded of anything, they all took pay cuts to be here, THEY KNOW.

Depends on what happens in the game. When the team is lazy as hell, it's the players, but also Spo for not getting on them and maybe giving some discipline because they walk all over him and it's been evident they don't listen to him at times. Recently, I'd say it's both but mostly he players. Spo's rotations besides playing LeBron ridiculous minutes have actually been good, just he overplays LBJ, that's my beef ATM.

Now, if the other team adjusts to something the Heat are doing and Spo doesn't adjust, that's on Spo. MANY people blamed him for the Finals because he didn't adjust to a simple zone and when Carlisle put Barea is the starting position (AGAINST BIBBY), we never won after that. Game 6 Spo then decides to move Mario to start but it was too late (PG rotation was bad anyway). When adjustments aren't made, that's on Spo. Even against OKC, team was going to the basket at will, no adjustments and then no will from the players. At times it's both, at times it's one or the other.

Yeah they know. Just wonder if fans remember that they know. These guys are now 9 year vets, playing a condensed season where they are locked into the 2 seed. What do YOU think is happening?

They went into the tank the SAME time of the year last year.

It's almost as if they know they need to recharge a bit to have something for the late rounds of the playoffs.

You have to trust the team at this point. Until we get to the finals, then there's nothing to worry about. Once we are in the finals, we'll be in a situation where we've failed before, and that's when I'll worry.

Team is too damn good to be beaten before then though. And SHOULDN'T lose once they get there. Coaching has nothing to do with it.

Spo freakin' showed them the damn trophy and they still couldn't get it done.

I'm glad they had a longer practice and whatnot to get things done, but the fact this team needs a reminder AFTER LOSING IN THE NBA FINALS that they need to win, makes me laugh.

If there is a problem "implementing" something for a whole month then that absolutely is a coaching problem.

You say the team lost focus post all star game. Again that was also more than a month ago. If a team has problems focusing for a whole month that is absolutely a coaching issue too.

You can't just say the coach has nothing to do with it because the players have been out of it for a whole month. How can a coach lose control of the team for a whole month and that not be a problem?

Riley attends almost every practice.

If we fail to make the Finals or win it all again this year, Riley is obligated to look at the roster and/or his coach and think of changes. I think we have enough talent to easily contend, but as much as I like Spo, I have to wonder if a more seasoned coach would be a better fit.

I'd love to see Phil Jackson here, but I sincerely doubt he lowers himself to work for Riley.

Should or shouldn't doesn't matter. The reality of life is that workers sometimes lose focus, and it's management's job to keep them on track. Some use a sledgehammer, some use a scalpel. Riley is one that uses a scalpel. The guys are motivated for a championship, he doesn't need a sledgehammer to coax them back on track. PEACE.

Like who? Phil Jackson and Pat Riley will never coach this team.

I'll get called a Spo fan or homer, because I defend the guy. I defend him because he does a better job than we're gonna find from anyone else outside of Pop and maybe Karl. If you don't think so, realize there are not many coaches out there with hardware. Just 2 to be exact, Pop and Rick. That tells you that there isn't this burgeoning list of qualified coaches out there. The pool is extremely small, to be honest. So anyone you think you can replace Spo with is someone who hasn't proven they can win it all. Anyone you think you can replace him with is someone who has either lost in the Finals, or someone who's never been able to make it that far. Replacing the man that took us to the Finals last year with someone who has no championship pedigree is the definition of knee-jerk. PEACE.
