James Jones or Mike Miller

Non Heat fan here.

To me it seems that Mike Miller has essentially just regressed into a James Jones clone. All he can do is camp out around the 3pt line and hit open shots at a decent percentage. Both guys have very similar stats, and both contribute nearly nothing else on offense aside from their jump shooting. Mike Miller used to be able to do so much more, but at this point it's foolish to expect that he could ever return to being the type of player he was earlier in his career.

So if both players are pretty much redundant which player would you rather see get the playing time? What distinguishing quality gets you to favor one over the other?

No...no no, Mike Miller doesn't shoot the ball, really, he doesn't do anything. James Jones is like Steve Novak.

James Jones all the way.

I'd take JJ. The only thing Miller has over JJ right now is rebounding. JJ makes just as much hustle plays as Miller. Big difference is, he's AUTOMATIC from 3pt range. Our best 3pt shooter BY FAR and probably one of the best in the league. He does not pass up a 3pt shot except he's completely covered. Miller passes up open shots. JJ has not cost us any victory in the past 2 seasons that I can remember, rather he becomes an x-factor in a lot of our games which he plays. I can go on and on. JJ over Miller. If Battier could shoot like JJ then I'd take him over those two ANY DAY.

The answer is both! JJ and MM should be getting major minutes. MM shouldn't just be used as a spot up shooter however! Where has MM floor game gone? Does anybody remember when MM beat the Heat with one freakin arm? What happens to guys when they come to Miami???

LOL.

Anybody that has followed Mike Miller's career is that he made a lot of money and won the Sixth Man award and he stopped giving a f*** in 2006.

He's been trash man for about 5 years, he been stopped shooting, he is garbage, the Heat thought they could breathe life into him but he's been a glassman for a long time even before his sixth man of the year award so he rarely sees the court anyway.

He was the same way for the Wizards and the T-Wolves.

He's been getting by on his Orlando and Grizz days for a years now. The Heat just fell for it trying to get some hasbeen vet like always.

Mike Miller is a decent player playing for a Coach and a System that HAS NOT IDEA WHAT DO WITH HIM. he can pass, shoot and rebound - all in very high level. i refuse to believe K.Korver is on a totally other level then Miller. the difference is one is playing in a system that maximize his abilities and the other for a system that minimize his abilities.
Give Miller a Coach like Thibs that will give him confidence and create opportunities for him and he'll blow K. korver out of the park.

Both. Just don't play Battier (who had a -34 +/- last night). It's really very, very simple.

Dude, he's only taking 2 3s a game.

He's not Steve Novaking it up and hasn't since 2008, he been taking around 2 to 3 threes a game since Twovles, that's why he got traded to Washington, because he wasn't shooting and playing heavy minutes.

He isn't that good anymore and he won't be. He loss his game.

The question should be: Battier or Miller?
JJ has an OK contract and does what he's paid for. Not his fault if he doesn't play or if the coach never draws a play to have him open.

Mike Miller. is the answer to both questions. Only because for one he actually tried to step up. The shots were not falling but he didnt shy away from the shots. Battier? nope James Jones? nope, they both would be passing and not looking for their shot.

If we can get all of our bench players to look for theirs more often when open (while not forcing it and playing in the flow of the game) then we will be ok.

Mike Miller is the best practice shooter in the NBA.

How often do you see Spo setting him up to shoot it from that exact angle and how often does he actually shoot it?

It's frustrating watching Korver because there are so many more dimensions to Miller's game yet Korver has a decidedly larger impact on his team than Miller has on ours. That points directly to Spo's ineptitude. Between Miller and JJ, considering their primary value is the 3, I'd like to see us play the hot hand but Spo doesn't believe in that concept.

The sad thing was MM was guarding KK a lot.

And KK looked so much quicker than MM, MM Is only 1 year older
