Here is some footage of Ron Seikaly, IMHO the most skilled center ever to play in Miami.

Unfortunately, I only have faint memories of him. I had not even gone to my first Heat game during that period LOL.

I disagree.
Shaq was more skilled. You can even say Big Z was.
Seikaly was underrated though. I never understood why we traded him for Owens. Owens looked like he had some upside but we had Rice already and we didn't know we were going to get Zo so we needed a center.
I was young and internet wasn't as readily available so I couldn't follow the transactions as closely back then but I remember being surprised because this was the first big trade I had seen.
Looking it up now it seems like Seikaly asked for them to fire Loughery and then requested a trade. You would think they could have gotten more than Owens though since Seikaly was a center and GSW had a bunch of non-centers already.

Seikaly had a lot of post up moves, and excelled in faking up, getting his defender of his feet, and scoring.
He had good foot work and a decent jumper.

Some of them play PF now.
Also when people remember "the past" they remember a vague period of time not an instantaneous point in time like when we think of "now"
Additionally people look back nostalgically.

I watched the Heat during that era and Zo is by far the best center to play for this franchise. Seikaly was very good. He was traded because our previous owners were a bunch of **** idiots who had no idea how to run a franchise. They traded a skilled big for an overrated and useless tweener who makes Antoine Walker look like George Gervin, and they traded our star shooting guard for Kevin "T-Rex" Willis.
Absolutely disgraceful. Thank God for Mickey Arison.

Seikley was never overrated. He had the respect of everyone when he was playing and on the floor. Heat have always treasured talented Centers but I dont know why we went away from that these past few year. Seikley was a beast. For a center he was fluid. Shaq though even in his old age was our best and most talented Center. I have yet to see another Center come close. Shaq could get anything he wanted in his prime. I like Zo too but Zo aint no Shaq.

We didn't have prime Shaq, though. Naturally, prime Shaq would be the best. Otherwise, when healthy, Zo was the best we ever had. Seikaly did have that crazy period when he was grabbing 20+ boards on a consistent basis. I miss Jack Ramsey. :/

Al Horford is a PF, IMHO.
Hibbert, Glen Davis, Marc Gasol and Dampier are centers.

For one thing, a guy that talented wouldn't slow cook in college these days. Too many guys come into the league now with tons of athletic ability but no game or maturity.
