A petition to fight flopping

Post#1 » by SteveDobbs » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:56 pm

As a Bulls fan trying to find things to do with myself besides suicide, I decided to start a Change.org petition against flopping in the NBA.

All it took was 300,000 signatures on this site for Bank of America to drop their $5 debit card fee.

If you think, as I do, that flopping is ruining the game, go on there and sign the petition. It takes five seconds. In a couple hours with nothing other than posting on the general board here I have a handful of signatures.

http://www.change.org/petitions/nationa ... uspensions

Stern and the NBA obviously don't have to listen to Jeff Van Gundy, but maybe with enough people voicing their displeasure, they'd have to take the issue seriously and look at doing something, anything about it.

Mods feel free to lock if you don't want this on your team's board.

I guess that petition could'nt hurt, but as a basketbal fan i really dont see "flopping" as a major issue. or a real issue frankly. it's just an easy target for fanboys to rant and go wild about.

the real issue behind "flopping", or players "selling" fouls ; the core reason flopping exist is : the game is being called too tight, it's become too soft. no emotions are allowed.

"flopping" is a marginal issue with no real impact on the game.

RealGM general board does NOT = real basketball world.

There's flopping in every sport. Football is probably the least since if you get caught flopping, someone will probably make sure you felt real pain the next time they get the chance. Just deal with it. It doesn't change the game, and it doesn't disrupt the flow nearly as much as it does in soccer. PEACE.

flopping has been part of the game since FOREVER. its almost impossible to elminate flopping from the refs standpoint watching each play in real time. its real easy to point it out consistently and not get it wrong when are watching replays in slow motion and are focusing on just the plays happening with the ball or close to the ball.

You can find a bunch of flopping videos of the Bulls and they're trying to "fight" fr it to be gone. Ah the Bulls, the perfect NBA team correct? Hell Noah flopped a few times last night and they called some bs loose ball fouls on the Sixers.

Every team in the league flops, get over it.

Edit:
I started a petition of my own asking for the league to give the Heat (Especially LeBron and Wade) more calls. Please sign it OP and friends.

+1

Reggie Miller was a flopping fool, and he's still in the HOF and a respected announcer. If it was really such a problem he wouldn't be in either of those situations.

There's nothing you can do about flopping short of removing charge/blocking fouls and turning this into football with a hoop.

EDIT: just realized Reggie's being inducted this summer. Maybe if this little petition goes anywhere, he won't be

Great idea. Yeah Wade barely gets any calls anymore. It's really annoying.

So let me get this straight...

Rose went down with an injury and you are so distraught that you are going on a personal crusade in order to distract yourself from killing yourself?

You have reached this human low over a game (and the happenings of its players). Pardon me for being frank, but that is absurd.

Flopping is the least of your worries (please seek help).
Don't believe the hype...

Meh.... I'd hate for the replays and delays they would do because of flopping unless the review games after. This isn't football or baseball when the game is slow and in spurts (I know basketball CAN be between elite vs elite teams, not really).

The refs are already terrible. I know Heat get a lot of calls, but so do the Thunder, Lakers, whatever. Crap happens.

If anything, physicality to the game should be restored.

However, flopping is also even the biggest sport in the world, soccer (or football for the international people). This won't end.

Stern though is about to retire so, who knows if the new commissioner will be very strict.

Even in football (American football), it's occurring lol. This isn't new really. Yeah it's annoying but meh, I just deal with it.

Return to Miami Heat
