The Excuses Tracker

Post#1 » by Miamis3rdRing » Tue May 1, 2012 8:06 pm

Threads like this can often get heated (No pun intended) so if you're not interested in participating in a positive manner, don't. Luckily 99% of this board is cool so this should pass without any untoward incident...

I'm not saying we're going to win a title. This is merely to keep track of the absolutely ridiculous excuses made by the average (Primitive brained) NBA fan following each Heat playoff win.

Game 1:
The refs! The Knicks were in the game but the refs stole their momentum. LeBron was flopping all over the place! His two flops should get him an acting role in the next Hollywood blockbuster. Everybody sign my petition to Stern to protest this travesty.

Game 2:
No Shumpert, no Lin. Amare hurt his hand post-game. The Heat have a free path to the Finals! It's so unfair! If Shumpert, Lin, and Amare were healthy Knicks win in 6. Now the Knicks are screwed. If only the Hawks had Horford, Magic had Dwight, Celtics had Ray, and the Bulls had Rose. There's no way the Heat beat all those teams. I feel so cheated that I don't get a chance to see LeBron going up against the best. Break out the asterisks.

Feel free to contribute what you think is the general consensus after every game.

*The excuses don't bother me nor should they bother any Heat fan. We've been dealing with this stuff since the '06 title. It's just interesting to see how quickly people are to change their excuses.

Edit:
This thread has been given the OK to continue by Flash3, however please refrain from calling out certain fan bases and posters. That's only going to draw trolls here and lead to a mess.

I'll keep this to a general summary of what the average fan is saying - not mention every delusional post - there's too many of those to keep track of anyways.

This from the most delusional knicks homer of alltime. The stuff this guy comes up with sometimes is hilarious and hes an admin.

I just wanted to get that off my chest.

Miami looking to ride their way to an East title on the backs of a ton of injuries. They still might not be able to beat the West champ. And if they do, it has a shortened season asterisk next to it.

Knicks can still get back in this series but it's a shame we don't have all our guns.

Like I just posted on the general board, if any other team wins the title this year, there will be no asterisk and they will be applauded for surviving this killer of a season. But of course if we win it, there will be infinite asterisks attached to our title because people will bring up anything they can think of

If they were all healthy it would still be the same beat down we're giving them right now.

They should switch their name to New York McGrady because it's been that long since they got out of the first round and they won't get out of it again this year.

In the 80's, the Lakers regularly had cakewalks to the Finals. Nobody puts asterisks on those titles because they had to beat great teams in the Finals. Whoever comes out of the West is going to be extremely talented and, in the case of SA in particular, extremely well-coached (can't say the same for LAL or OKC).

There's nothing easy about beating any of those teams. The Lakers fans who are inadvertently trashing their own team are hilarious though.

Hahaha, I saw the same thing and was just about to post it here. The things Knicks fans tell themselves to avoid facing reality is hilarious.

The only way possible for a Heat title to be tagged with this conditional asterisk is if they go out and win the whole thing first. I'd be more than cool dealing with any of the foolishness that might come as a result. *Embrace The Asterisk.

Who cares?

If the HEAT win, let them put the asterisk if they want. We would've won and we, as fans, would end up celebrating and enjoying the moment, asterisk or no asterisk.

Not sure where you got that from, but please do not quote others unless it comes from this board or thread.

Either way, that sounds quite delusional for 2 reasons -

1. Injuries are part of the game and that's a laundry list of excuses if I ever found one.

2. Even if they were all healthy, what difference would it make? The games are being decided by double freaking digits! Not 1 or two tightly contested possessions  .

Hey we would have won in 2005 if it weren't for injuries......but nobody's gonna remember that in 20 years time right? Not saying Knicks would have won by the way.

I DON'T CARE what excuses people make it's been 6 years since our last title and if we wiun **** it I will see all you guys at the Parade we will pop bottles of Ciroc and dance with hot drunk women LOLL

NOBODY in the east even with all their players can beat Miami in a 7 game series and if we cakewalk to the Finals be it I could give a **** less blame the coaching staffs of other teams why play Derrick Rose when you are up 12 and about to win ? Ray Allen is old can't blame his injuries on anyone and also Shumpert what happened was unfortunate but to think Jeremy Lin could make NYK beat MIA is laughable.

People will just get mad that they can't do LeBron doesn't have a ring joke anymore. Also us Miami Heat fans will be glad to see D.Wade get his second ring as well as our whole team.

I think the bottom line and most important is something Charles Barkley commented on, we just play at another level than the Knicks. Carmello has been balling but thats all. When we play at that high level the rest of the league is intimidated and with that intimidation comes the excuses. Amare didnt just hurt his hand. We caused that by frustrating him to that point. Our dominance of the Knicks frustrated him into that bonehead release of aggression. Barkley basically said we are just better than them regardless of who is out on their team.

We were and still are the #1 odds favorite to win the title in Vegas even before all these strange injuries and events. Why? because on paper we should win it all. So excuses need not be heard. Lebron James, Dwane WAde, Chris Bosh. /thread

On the bright side, we can put an asterisks next to any team that beats us since we're obviously not a worthy competitor

You have problems reading and keeping your word it seems. The very first line of this thread - "Threads like this can often get heated (No pun intended) so if you're not interested in participating in a positive manner, don't."
