Wade's FT's

Why is he only shooting 64% from the line.
I am a huge Wade fan and this bothers me, I know he is capable of being a good shooter and he really shouldn't struggle from the FT line.

It almost seems like every other year he struggles.

06 : 80%
07 : 69%
09 : 86%
10 : 67%
11 : 78%
12 : 64%

*missed the playoffs in 08 (injured)*

Well to answer your question the playoffs are a very small sample size, on the season he always ends up around 80%. The problem with Wade in all areas of shooting is consistency. He doesn't put enough arc on his shot to be consistent so he is either hot or cold, and right now he is real cold.

What I see from him specifically from the line is frustration. He has no confidence right now, and it is in his head that he can't hit FT's. You saw last night him clapping for himself when he hit some and getting aggravated when he missed. I do think though last night he looked much better at the line and I expect this to turn around going forward.

The most important flaw in Wade's shot is his change in stance. For whatever reason he's adopted this need to put his left foot way behind him the last 2 years, which forces his hips to not be squared with the basket!

This is how he shot in freethrows in 06

I'll find who he shot in 09 then 10 and 11 later....

He just had the second best FT% season of his career.

The only thing that video makes me think of is what happened to his shot. Just a very different player today.

LeBron has a chance of 35% that he splits his FT and 5% that he misses both. People act like it's unclutch to miss FT, but there is no reason to start shooting them better under pressure.

I think you're on point. Dwyane has never been a particularly consistent shooter (FT, 3pt and midrange) and he hasn't improved much since he came into the league. He really needs to work on it if he wants to be an effective scorer later in his career.

Wade and Lebron should ask Joel for FT tutoring, he's the best FT shooter on the team during the playoffs among players with > 10 FTA
