Heat Eyeing Andre Miller In Free Agent Market

The Miami Heat will make a play for free-agent point guard Andre Miller this offseason, Fox Sports Florida’s Chris Tomasson reports via Twitter.

There’s no way, however, that the Heat would be able to pay Miller what he could command from other teams. He was paid $7.8 million with the Denver Nuggets this season, and Tomasson suggests he’d have to accept a pay cut to $3 million for the Heat to be able to sign him.

Whether Miller is willing to sacrifice multiple millions of dollars for a chance to compete for a title is unknown, and there are mixed signals about his intention as an unrestricted free agent this summer.

"I'll keep my options open," Miller said. "At this point in my career, if I'm going to be a backup, I'm going to be a backup on a championship-caliber team. Obviously, (Denver) is a good team that's going to get to the playoffs, but the thing is if they are committed to getting to that next level to compete for that championship."

They're a little too busy right now to be eyeing anyone. I love how sports "journalists" make obvious assumptions and then try to give the impression that they have a source or have done any work at all.

Nice a PG who can't shoot 3s, just what the Heat need.

More garbage. Are we being trolled? We need a big man.

We need a rebounding Center. A -Center-. Not a PG.

A Center who can stop the second chance points, help outrebound, and help provide a presence under the basket to stop all the easy points teams get. Everyone knows, if you can get past our strong perimeter defense, there is nothing stopping you from an easy layup.

It's weird because I thought Andre Miller was a PG. And we need a center. So clearly I am just misremembering.

What I wanted to hear was that the Heat's main priority was finding a center capable of anchoring the paint, and Andre Miller would make an excellent center.

Andre Miller's impact is not seen on the boxscore

He is a veteran who is capable of providing big minutes and the dude is hungry

Yeah, because the way to fix an offense with 2 superstars who don't know how to play while the other has the ball ... is to take the ball out of both of their hands.

NO! NO! NO! Enough with this veteran leadership BULLCRAP!!! We need someone who can freaking score off the bench

EDIT: The main priority should be a center.

We need for Wade to develop a jumper and learn to play without the ball.

What happened to being more young Riley?

the **** is going on.

STOP WITH THE OLDIES

WE NEED A CENTER

AND PEOPLE WHO CAN SCORE FOR THEMSELVES AS WELL

Andre would do great for the offense. But uh... we paid Rio and Cole is on this team. Unless someone is getting traded.

Denver fan here, I watched Dre Miller all season and he can get the rock to anyone. He was instrumental in some big wins in the Playoffs vs Lakers. He's smart, an absolute warrior and wants to win.

He has said numerous times that he wants to be a starter and/or play for a contender.

I say Denver S & T him to Miami along with Aaron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler for D Wade.

That allows LeBron to be THE MAIN MAN, and gives Miami even more depth.

Miami:

PG - Chalmers/Andre Miller
SG - Afflalo/Mike Miller
SF - Chandler/Battier
PF - James/Haslem
C - Bosh/Turiaf/Anthony

Denver:

PG - Lawson/Stone
SG - Wade/Rudy
SF - Gallo/Brewer
PF - Faried/Harrington
C - McGee/Mozzy/Koufos

been saying it, we need a point guard. Those carless turnovers, bad coaching in the game..
they could be solved with a solid point guard.I prefer a billups..

Someone who will make lebron, wade get going.

I hope this is addressed come summer, it will put us on the top.Enough wingers! and supposedly "3 point shooters' who cant make open 3's.

i'd take him. gladly. the 3 ball can be overrated. phil jackson was never a big believer in the 3 ball and he did pretty ok.

I've been a big proponent of getting guys that fit.

Well, that crap is out the window now. I don't care if he can't hit the 3. We need guys that can play basketball. Guys that can do stuff. I'm sick of these one dimensional turds that stand in one corner and miss shots.

It's partially our system but also on them. Miller has sucked for a long time now, and is always injured. Battier, JJ, UD - these guys can't put the ball on the floor and create for themselves or others. They've never done that and they never will. When I see them try I cringe.
