Wade will miss Olympics due to knee surgery

Post#1 » by TrueRain » Sat Jun 23, 2012 1:10 am

Wade's knee may keep him out of London Games

Dwyane Wade played with knee pain throughout the playoffs. He'll soon know exactly what was causing that problem, and if it could keep him out of the London Olympics.

One day after celebrating his second NBA championship, the Miami Heat guard told The Associated Press on Friday that he will soon have his ailing left knee examined, and acknowledges that surgery may be a possibility. Wade appeared in all 23 postseason games for Miami, averaging 22.8 points, and scored 20 in the title-clinching win for the Heat against Oklahoma City on Thursday night.

"I've got to make a decision on what my knee needs and what's best, because my career and finishing my career strong is what's important to me," Wade said. "And I know, yeah, the Olympics are coming up. It's something I really want to do. But at the same time, if I have to make a big decision, if something has to happen surgery-wise, that will have to be a step I have to take. My loyalty and my commitment to Miami Heat basketball is the No. 1 thing."

Hope he sits it out and gets ready for next season with Grover. It was clear he wasn't healthy this playoffs.

Love it.

2 deep Finals runs + Olympics will take its toll on anyone. He should sit out. Team USA will be fine, there are enough talented players out there.

I'd also support LBJ if he decide to skip it.

I don't want any of our guys playing in the Olympics. I love the Olympics and I know how much it means to these players but Wade, Bron, and Bosh were part of the national team for several years, I just feel like it is now a team for the younger generation. That said I can almost guarantee Lebron will be there, but I don't think Wade will be. He really needs to take a step back get healthy and work on the parts of his game that he can improve to better compliment Lebron on offense.

I really want him to rest. He looked like he had trouble throughout the whole playoffs. He really needs the entire offseason to come back 100% and on a completely clean slate free of any nagging injuries whatsoever.

lebron should sit too imo. anyway, the real wade will come back for the next season. i want wade to get a mvp award, and lebron to take one step back for the wade's mvp. this would be very good to see. two mvps in a team. that would be fantastic.

I support any decision they make. But we would all like for them to rest this season was a brutal one. 100% behind wade if he wants to sit out.

I really want to win gold, I am a huge fan of the Olympics and anything team USA. Can't wait to see Phelps sweep gold again haha.

but I want our guys to rest. LeBron definitely won't shy away from the chance to get a gold medal on top of his MVP, Finals MVP and being a champ, followed by a ring. He is younger though but he was run down to the ground.

Luckily they won't be playing like 40 mins a game. This is like the All-Star team in a way.

Though I don't like Blake Griffin and all these players who can't shoot on the team.

KD and LeBron looks like they might have to carry the team. Kobe still thinks he can be clutch, I really wouldn't want to lose gold just because Kobe is self-indulgent.

But anyway, for WADE I want him to be healthy and for us to repeat we need him. I have no problem with him taking the Olympics off. We need him healthy.

Hopefully coach K manages the minutes evenly so lebron won't need to play huge minutes.

I hope he does rest for the entire off season, he really needs to work on spotting up for three so he can get some easier baskets. If he can ever get a reliable three point shot he would become so much more deadly.

I would love to see our big three get the gold, but if Wade sits, great. He could use the rest.

Lebron is probably going. I have a feeling he's just getting started. Just hope they manage his minutes.

Bosh I don't mind, as long as he's fully healed from the abdominal strain.

He definitely needs to rest.

Lebron too. But Lebron can't otherwise we won't medal. So many injuries. Worried for Team USA. It's basically Lebron, Durant and a whole lot of question marks

LeBron shouldnt play THAT many mins. Guys like Carmelo and especially Durant should be able to carry the load from the forward position.

All 3 should sit out. LeBron played ridiculous minutes this season. I want him coming back fresh so we can defend our title.

Yeah, I really wish Lebron wasn't playing, he's had enough minutes already.
