Admittedly, before the playoffs started I was pretty much on the "TRADE EVERYONE" (minus the Big 3 of course) bandwagon. Now that the post season is over however, we all can admit that our role players were HUGE for us and some even surprised the **** out of us with how well they performed and now there are a few I would definitely like to see remain in a Heat uniform for our quest to defend the title next season.

Now that the post season is over which role players do you want to see return?

Here are mine:

Shane Battier- This is a no-brainer for me. Battier was arguably our best and most consistent role player for us this post season. Although his 1 on 1 defense isn't what it used to be, he more than made up for it with his hustle. He drew charges, played some true Miami Heat scrappy D, made a **** load of HUGE 3's for us, and provided this team with some much needed mental toughness. Definitely want to see this guy back next season.

Mario Chalmers- If Battier wasn't our best role player this post season then Mario was. I don't care how stupid this guy can be at times; the dude is fearless and ALWAYS seems to step up his game when the stakes are high. Mario was always the main spark in our offense when our Big 3 couldn't get things going with his 3 point shooting and occasional aggressive drives to the basket. Overall Mario has something you can't teach to NBA players: heart and balls of steel.

Norris Cole- Seriously who would have though that "The Rookie" would end up being such a huge part of our success in the Finals? Yeah we overrated this guy when the season first started but WOW did he bounce back in the playoffs! He has a lot of stuff he needs to work on but with a full season of NBA basketball I think Cole can really develop his game and end up being a solid PG for this Heat team. Like Mario, Cole is also fearless in the big moment and he's only going to get better... It's only his 1st year in the NBA and he's already a champion!

Honorable mention goes to Mike Miller... He's most likely going to retire but DAMN the dude went out like a TRUE warrior! All of your struggles throughout this season are forgiven Mike, and I'm always gonna be thankful that you played for us.

As for everyone else, I'm willing to see them go if we can get an upgrade for them, and YES this includes UD.

James Jones is still under contract for next season. I hope he does not retire. Jones and Chalmers are the only 2 guys I trust with the 3 pt shot. And Jones knows all about our defensive schemes and how to draw charges. He's pro at it, and it's useful to have him on the team.


Miller has to go. I don't care if we don't get salary cap space. Micky Arison gets luxury tax relief, which he is paying right now. And we get an extra roster spot. Mike Miller's 2 year stay on Miami is basically just a picture of him sitting on the bench injured. Even when he played, he was still suffering from injuries. He was supposed to be the 4th guy on the team..... instead, 6 million dollar hole in the roster. Gee, thanks, Mike.

Juwan Howard can stay if he wants a 2nd ring and do it all over again, haha. He can still contribute during the regular season when our rotation is bigger, he is a good locker room influence, he is a seasoned veteran that can provide solid advice to our young guys and our big 3. Plus, he might be a year older, but his legs are fresh because he isn't getting a lot of burn on the court.


Eddy Curry? Bring him back.... but have Pat Riley look at his progress. Has he been working hard? What are his plans for the off-season? If he answers, "sit on my couch and eat hamburgers and play xbox", then you tell him to GTFO. He already has 8 months now of his diet and working with Miami Heat. Now he has another few months before the next season starts. He has the golden opportunity to be our starting C for the defending champs... I'd say give him a chance to prove himself this year. 1 more try.

Ronny Turiaf has a player option. I hope he comes back with us and takes the option.


As for Harris, bring him back too. He looks like he can develop into a nice player for us, but he needs to hit the gym and bulk up a little.



After that... we need to grab TWO big men in free agency or draft.

All of our role players are under contract so what does that matter?

Haslem sure, I hope he gets his groove back. I heard something about because he didn't play basketball for so long it took his forever to get his jumper back.

Next year we're going to have a full training camp and all that stuff, the defense is going to be EVEN better, and the offense, and the players. Cole will develop too.

I feel like Miller will retire. He has been hurt every year. He laid his guts out on the floor in game 5, but I think for the sake of his well being he should just retire. He can stroke it like no other and he has hustle and heart but good lord, the only part of body that worked after we won was his face smiling all over the place lol.

I think the roster is pretty much set.

Juwan is gone, Harris is gone, Pittman I am not sure. Unless we develop Pittman to be our Center. It's been friggin 2 years now. Either we trade him or develop him. He has shown flashes of what he can do.

Turiaf will probably pick up his player option, we just **** won LOL.

I don't think Curry is coming back. He is a big and there might be some smaller market crazy enough to throw money at him to play. We aren't going to offer him a lot of money, because we don't have any.

I'm really conflicted over Haslem. On one hand loyalty is a cornerstone of the heat organization, but it's clear he no longer the player he once was.

I just dont understand why we need 5 different threads on the exact same thing - how to improve the roster.

I'd give him another chance. He has been declining honestly, but he has been clutch and there when we needed him. We need a guy besides Battier and Miller (Miller won't be back) who would dive for a basketball and would want it more than anyone else.

Haslem last year trying to recover from his surgery took a long time to adjust and get his jumper back. He got his jumper back at the right moments, but it wasn't consistent as it once was.

I think he can regain somewhat of his old self coming back. He also helped in rebounding against key opponents when we needed him.

In another thread it's mentioned we should draft a PF with a midrange game, because Haslem is declining, and I agree with that. It is if Bosh stays at Center.

This... I just don't know how much Haslem has left in the tank anymore. He really regressed on the offensive end this season and it looks like his lift is gone.

If we don't get any good bigs for some upgrades then UD will most likely stay though.

I think cole is only going to grow next season. Winning a ring in his first season is only going to give him more confidence.

Why is nobody mentioning Harris? i would not yet consider him a role player but i can see him develop into a solid player. He has good range and 3 point shot, he can defend. He can fill in for SG/PG if we need him to do it.

Rio, Cole, Harris, Shane, Haslem, Joel and Ronny/Pittman. JJ, Miller, Juwan and one of Ronny/Pittman can go fish. PEACE.
