2012 CBA Questions...maximizing salary

Trying to get a grasp on the CBA restrictions to make a sensible off season plan... My capology is pretty good but trying to get a hold on finishing points... if anyone can answer these questions...any...it would be of great service:

1. Currently Riley has the smaller MLE exception to use(3mil,3years) correct?

2. Is there a cap on the amount of veteran minimums we can use?

3.People are saying we can't use the larger MLE even if we get under the tax line...is that correct?

4. What are the stipulations on the bi-annual exception? Is that a under tax restriction as well? Could we get under the tax line and use it?

5.If Mike Miller retires can we get a doctor to sign off on his back(a la Brandon Roy degenerative knees) and get a medical exception for half his salary for 1 year(almost 3 mil)? This would be a huge benefit and sort of give us the ability to sign two players with this and the smaller mle.

Those are the main ones right now but I think these steps are necessary and i'm certain Riley is in the office this weekend with scouts, capologists, and higher ups...proposing everything under the sun...thanks

You're mixing up two things here. He either retires and we can get his salary off the cap, or he is deemed to have a long-term injury and then we can get the injured player exception.

If he's retiring, he could be traded before he officially retires (i.e. submit the paperwork) to a team that wants to clear a contract - we could take back up to $7m before July 1 & $7.25m after the moratorium is lifted.

If we're given a medical exemption then we can sign someone using for $2.9m - effectively giving us two TP-MLEs.
