They can get both of them because they have Allen's bird rights IIRC and can go over the cap to keep him. Best case scenario for Celts:

Rondo/Terry
Bradley/Allen
Pierce/Green
Bass/Wilcox/Sullinger
Garnett/Stiemsma/Sullinger

IF they stay healthy that is a damn good team. Doc will conserve their minutes so they won't get the #1 seed but they will be a tough out in the playoffs. The problem is with all those old players they are bound to have several key guys banged up or out come May and June letting Miami take them out for the 3rd straight year.

Highly unlikely Ray goes back when they have just signed Terry. There will be no mins.

Terry isn't a PG

So funny to think of us getting Allen. Doesn't seem that long ago Seattle offered us Allen+picks for Wade. Who knows the Sonice would probably still be around if we accepted this trade.

If Rondo plays 35 min, Bradley plays 30 min, thats 31 minutes left between Terry and Ray, whom both probably want 25+ min... and Ray can't play the 3 at his age

...so how would that work?

Of course he said that. You'd love to have your cake and eat it too. But JET and Ray are extremely competitive guys who both want to play 20-25 min a game. With Bradley their SG of the future, I have a hard time not seeing him getting starters minutes. And even if Terry takes his minutes late in the fourth, are you telling me that you're going to put Ray at the 3 and Pierce at the 4 to accommodate everyone?

Ray can play the 2 down here at the tail end of games because we can slide Wade to the point and have Lebron and Battier play the 3 and 4.

Stop peeking in other teams house speculating on what they would do or how a player we don't know would feel.

IMO-Ray Allen will only come to Miami if he feels like it's a good fit for him, not the other way around. He's pissed at Boston, we will soon see how pissed.

I don't get this crusade you have with it being imperative a free agent commits on Day 1.

You realize if that was our attitude in 2010, we'd have wound up with Joe Johnson instead of Wade/James/Bosh?

That's different... the face of our franchise isn't a free agent, were just tryin to sign a specialist... not the league MVP. We don't NEED anyone... we are just trying to get better. Why wait on Ray and lose out on everyone else? There is many guys out there that can help our team right now.

Or you could say, "We're the world champions, we don't NEED anyone, so why not wait for the guy we want instead of reaching for someone we don't really care for?"

I'm so tired of people 2nd guessing every damn move Riley makes, even after 2010, it has gotten so old.

I guess everyone has a different opinion... but it's gonna suck if Ray is just using us like Odom did in 2009

The Heat better sign Ray Allen...hopefully Camby too.

Say what you will..but the Celtics have improved tremendously. Yes the Heat are still better. But thats on the power of the Big 3.

As much as Spo as improved as a coach. Its fair to say Doc Rivers is still better right?

Now the Celtics have gotten younger with Sullinger/Melo (Say what you will about them...but the Heat would take those guys as bench players right? Especially with UD's regression and Joel Anthony's disappearing act)

Also the Celtics get back Avery Bradley who will continue to improve. Now that get Terry?

Look, Im excited about the championship. I have faith in Pat Riley. I just dont want to see MIami be ok without added more pieces ala Miami 2007.

I have faith in Riley though....its just on paper...the Celtics have made some very good moves for improvement..

Their are a lot of irrational posters on the site, may of whom post irrational things, but you can't possibly be serious with any of this crap.

I disagree that we don't need anyone.

We need a Center. Ray Allen is just a luxury. If you want a backup SG, there's a ton of veterans that are UFA right now.

I am not on any crusade for any day 1 signing - I also realize our position in 2010 was achieved through patience. It would be helpful if you do not understand my comments to ask me to clarify, you know I'd be glad to....BUT

Sounds like good news to me. Terry and Allen have very similar talents. It seems like Boston is playing the "we're pushing you out the door while trying to look like we're not pushing you out the door" game.
