Could we help with recruiting Ray Allen ?

This made me think.

Yeah, I know it might sound stupid at first, but it's the Internet era and fans can interact with players much easier than before.

I am thinking of something like tweeting at him "The Big Two Featuring Ray Allen" followed by a link to this Bill Simmons article and a hashtag like #BostonNeverLovedYou or something.

Simmons has a few more gems, like "changing my name to Ray Allen's Expiring Contract".

If this works, it will accomplish a bunch of things:

* helps getting Ray Allen to the Heat

* gets Ray Allen extra motivated against the Celtics, hopefully leading to him putting a few daggers in them in a playoff series

* gets Boston extra-mad (always a bonus)

* pushes the Celtics closer to irrelevance - I think Terry might replace Ray Allen as a player, but I have to wonder about the chemistry. Allegedly Ray didn't get along too well with Rondo, and Ray is a classy guy. I don't see Terry taking Rondo's crap for too long

* uses Bill Simmons' words against him, hopefully leading to all Boston fans accusing him of breaking the Celtics and banning him from Boston, leading him to embrace his destiny (he lives in LA) and become the biggest Kobe-homer ever

I agree with everything you said, Boston signed JET but that makes them an 7th seed AT BEST...Terry isn't a starter and Bradley is out until December...a lot of the people at ESPN who are Heat haters is giving the Celtics way way too much credit. It was a nice story, but now we have Ray and they don't have an answer at starting SG.

To answer the OP's question...he's already been recruited and although we have to wait for July 11th for it to be official...this is DONE. Word will leak out tomorrow that Ray is a member of the Heat, much like how Bosh leaked out the Big Three forming after the first day of free agency. This is done! I think he'll be wearing number 20 and will be cheering the loudest for one of the classiest guys in the NBA joining an organization with true class unlike the ones he's been apart of his whole career. Come to think of it, I enjoyed the way the Sonics conducted themselves

I don't think it will make a difference.

But thanks for the link. Its hilarious going back and reading that after how smug people like Simmons and the national media have been the last few years, talking about how ultra clutch Boston is and what massive chokers Miami are. When here you have Simmons making a crack about how that Celtics team (the only one to actually win a championship with that core) played far differently up 20 than up 1, pretty much the same criticism Miami got all of last year and this season, until we won it all.

Of course, this isn't the first time Simmons showed himself as a huge flip-flopper. I remember right up until the Finals in 2006, he was about as big a Wade fan as he is a Durant fan now. And then the script totally flipped, and everything he's written about Wade since has been with a negative tone.

Its going to fun seeing how that city smears a class act like Ray Allen on the way out. They do it to all their athletes when they leave anyways...look no further than the Red Sox haha.

It won't help much honestly. The fans already struck out on their recruitment of Peyton. And I'm pretty sure the city did everything the possibly can to show how much we wanted him in the Dolphins.

Could we at least make it seem like it was Bill Simmons' article that was the thing that pushed him to Miami while he was still on the fence and leaning towards returning to the Celtics ?

Please ?

It would be so funny to see Bill Simmons hated by the entire Celtics fan base. All that hate against Lebron and Miami that was just oozing out of his articles, all the jokes and ironies and claims that "it can't work", all his blatant homerism would be paid back in spades.

Maybe you should stop projecting your dreams/frustrations on other people.
