Pittman starting?

Simple question: could you see Pittman starting at the 5 next year? He looked completely lost in the playoffs (it was almost embarassing) but this would be his first summer league/training camp with Miami. He provides something that Miami doesn't have right now and could save Bosh's energy to finish games at thr 5. Can he get there by November?

No chance. Also isn't his first summer league/training camp. He also spent time in the D-League for us two years ago.

Has any player in league history ever gone from street clothes to starter the next season? (Injury does not count)

He looked solid down the stretch of the season with minutes
Judging him off 3 mins after not playing in 3 weeks isn't exactly fair
I expect a solid Summer League, things like starting have to do entirely with whatever work he puts in over the Summer. The position is wide open
Once Joel Anthony is the roadblock you're always in with a shout

solid is very generous of you but he's still raw - there's a lot of potential there.

He needs to improve his ability to finish around the basket, defend without fouling, and continue getting into better shape and he'll be ok. A starter? Probably not. Rotation player? Should be.

He'd foul out every game if he had to play more than 12 minutes.

Honestly he can't even stay on the floor for 5 minutes. No way he starts.

Hibbert couldn't stay on the floor in his early career either - well until last season in fact.

He needs to get rid of the mindless fouls like fouling after the other team has secured the rebound, those hurt.
I have no problem with the fouls at the rim...sooner or later you get a reputation with the refs as "physical" and those calls fade, similar to Amir Johnson or Perkins

Hibbert never saw the D-league... or Street Clothes

Before Pittman even gets considered, Bosh would start at Center, if not then Anthony, if not then Haslem. I think it'd be a long way before he's even considered.

I never said he did. I merely pointed out that players can develop and fouls is a common area of problem for young players.
I don't think he'll start and I wouldn't be surprised if he plays little all season BUT he is likely to cut down on stupid fouls.
I'd like to point out that he's also a couple of years older than Hamilton. Times a ticking

This.
But it too early to tell, too many unknowns:
1.Will we add another Center? and if so, how good of a Center?
2.How much Center will Bosh Play?
3.How much can Dexter improve.
We'll see him the in summer leauge. only time will tell.

Pittman did a great job on Dwight on that first pre-season game last season, got under his skin, shut him down, nearly got into a fight with him. But he hasn't been anywhere near that good ever since.

He needs to go back and look at that tape

Dexter can defend at the rim just fine. His problem is picking up silly fouls. I don't know if he'll start but he should definitely be getting some minutes this year.
And I hope no one is seriously trying to blame him for playing bad in the playoffs after he hadn't played for weeks. We were calling that before the game even started.

I don't know if I'm in the minority here or what, but I'd rather have Joel, Pittman, or Turiaf if he comes back, to play center in the regular season to keep CB from getting banged up too much.

I don't think you're in the minority. A majority of us want CB at the 4 for the regular season. But he can play more to the 5 to make us that more versatile in the playoffs.

I'd rather see us play a traditional lineup period but it seems like we're in the minority when it comes to that.
