MIAMI—
It won't take long for Ray Allen to experience a reunion with the Boston Celtics.

While the complete NBA schedule will not be released until later this week, the Sun Sentinel has learned that the Miami Heat will open the 2012-13 NBA regular season on Tuesday Oct. 30 at AmericanAirlines Arena against the Celtics,  who lost Allen to the Heat as a free agent.

The Heat's rematch of the 2012 NBA Finals will have to wait a bit longer, with the Heat to host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Christmas Day.

The Sun Sentinel also has learned that the Heat's first road game will be on Friday Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks.

The Heat also will play a day game on New Year's Eve at the Amway Center against the Orlando Magic.

The Heat is scheduled for only one visit to Brooklyn to face the Brooklyn Nets, on Jan 30. In addition, the Sun Sentinel has learned the Heat will play Jan. 17 at Staples Center against the Los Angeles Lakers, and then host the Lakers for their lone visit South Florida visit on Feb. 10.

Great move by the NBA. I called this when they signed Allen that it would be a perfect opening match up for the Heat. The NBA wants as many story lines as possible, and this match up presents endless story lines. I just hope they don't get blown out like a lot of the defending champs do on opening night.

Christmas matchup should be a good one, at least its home this year. Shocked they wouldn't wait for the Dwight news to maybe calm down a little, Dwight in LA would be a great X-mas game for Miami. But a Finals rematch is always a good one.

Nice first road test for this new team going into MSG.

Lol I still remember getting steamrolled by the Bulls in 07 opening night.

But it's true though, look at the last 5 or so champions and you'll see their opening night is against sub par teams. Stern is all about the money :-? .

This comes as no surprise. If Ray didn't sign with Miami, which team would opening night be against? Maybe the Lakers with the addition of Nash?

Ugh, I would have preferred a creampuff for ring night too, but whatever. It'll just be nice showing the Celts the rings they couldn't win, and the star they couldn't keep. Hopefully blow them out of the building too. PEACE.

The league will never do that, they want to get the best match up they can. The league wanted a game with a lot of meaning, connections, and stories to talk about leading up to it. Besides OKC, LA, Boston has the most. Especially with Ray Ray down here, the league knew they had to.

Just hope we dont turn out like Dallas did last year, and we did in 07.

Good matchups. Pretty much knew Opening Day and Christmas would be Boston and OKC, just didn't know which team was getting which.
