How many minutes for Ray?

Post#1 » by gomigomi » Sat Aug 4, 2012 1:14 pm

One of the main reason he left Boston was the reduction in playing time. How many minutes per game for Ray do you think is reasonable in the upcoming season? 30 min?

Probably 27-30 minutes.

I expect Wade's minutes will be down next year, keeping him fresh and healthy for money time - the playoffs.
I also expect Wade to play a little PG in order to free up some crunch time minutes for Ray at SG.

Mario-28, Cole-10, Wade-10
Wade-20, Allen-28, Harris (situational)

This is how i see our back court rotation.

Wade was at his best, and most efficient, January of last season when Spo scaled him back to 31 minutes per game:

24.5 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 4.2 APG, 1.3 BPG, 1.2 SPG, .557 FG, .847 FT, 30.8 MIN

Wouldn't be surprised to see both he and Ray at about 30 minutes per game during the regular season. Allows enough time for each to be productive while still saving their legs for the playoffs.

30 minutes would only work if we forget about playing bosh at pf
don't forget, shane battier also has to get minutes
im sure the HEAT have figured out a basic plan for his minutes

I hope it gives Wade career lows in minutes. Push it down to 30. He's my favorite player, but the guy prone to injury, and I want him 100% for the playoffs, unlike last postseason.

PG- Chalmers- 30 (min)-Cole(10 min)-Wade (8 min)
SG- Ray Allen- 30 (min)- Wade (18 min)
SF- Wade- (10 min)-Lebron (20 min)- Battier(18 min)
PF- Lebron(18 min)-Bosh(12 min)- Haslem(20)
C- Bosh(25 min)- Joel anthony (15)- Haslem/Pitt(8 min)

Lebron- 38 min
Bosh- 37 min
Wade- 34 min
Chalmers- 30 min
Ray Allen- 30 min

I think the starting lineup will be a small lineup for Miami just to keep Ray Allen happy and he will also finish off the game with Chalmers-Ray Allen- Wade- Lebron- Bosh.

Allen should accept 24 minutes a game. Save your minutes for the playoffs.

You do realize we have a guy named Mike Miller and he hasn't retired. He will take minutes too.

If anything everyones minutes need to be reduced except maybe Chalmers. I would say Allen needs 15-20 minutes no more. Lewis 10-15 minutes. Everyone else reduced minutes by 5. We ran Lebron into the ground last season and I dont want to see that again.

Ray averaged 34 minutes per game last regular season. He didn't come to Miami to see his minutes get cut in half. Riley and Spo didn't bring him down for that either. No chance of him playing only 15-20 minutes.

Wade's minutes might be cut (which is not a bad thing at all) for Ray to play more. More rest for Wade.

About Miller... he's not going to be healthy the whole year, I wouldn't even mention him. I'd just save him for the end of the year/playoffs. He gets injured too quick and his back situation doesn't look too good. He's probably having surgery, thus more time for Ray anyway. Though I heard rehabbing was a possibility...

I don't know about Lewis getting 10 minutes... he had a bumpy road last few years but when he's on top of his game, he would be a huge lift off that bench and can give a lot of rest to our guys. I think he deserves a chance. I wish we could have our own bench crew rather than just having one of Wade/LBJ/Bosh out there. We'll see what happens.

25-30 minutes IMO.

I didn't want Lewis at first, now that we got him the homer in me has kicked in. I think he's going to be a key player off the bench. He doesn't even have to be a top 5 player on this team.

OT: Too lazy to open a new thread and make another post for this. Last summer people were laughing at us for getting Battier saying he does nothing to address our needs (As if Center's were begging to play here on the cheap) As we all know, Shane killed it in the Finals. :naaa:

Good point about Battier. He allowed Lebron to rest on the floor! Set a tone of charges and was a great locker room presence. Getting Rashard allows ua to spread the floor and rotate height to the shooters! He will be deadly on a pick and roll with Wade!!!! Love this team!!!

This was the minute distribution for the playoffs. I don`t even think the regular season minutes even matter too much for Miami Heat. And why don`t you point out all the flaws of my opinion?

If his ankles are good, you need to give him enough minutes to get his rhythm and enough shots that a miss or two doesn't matter. 25-30? He'll be in good nick, in terms of his fitness and body. He ALWAYS turned up ready to go. Just a matter of whether those ankles are better.

Also, he was able to play over 30 minutes easily enough when we ran him off screens all night long. Be easier for him playing on your team, since he'll be able to take SOME offensive plays off, stand in the corner, and provide spacing.

There is a 0% chance Wade starts at SF or Bron starts at PF or that Ray starts.Watch Rays interviews he knows he isnt starting, that was just ridiculous.

ray should get 22-26 minutes during the regular season, save his legs for the playoffs when he will see 30+ min per game

Return to Miami Heat
