Wade vs kobe
First of all, this is my first post here and feel free to disagree-
What is up with people thinking Wade is not a superstar anymore? Seriously, I am not afraid to criticize wade when necessary and I criticized him a lot during the playoffs. But, I am not blind enough to say hes not one of the top 5 players in the NBA.
One thing that has me all confused is the fact that people consider kobe to be, after last season's performance, a top 3 player in the league(chris palmer @ESPNChrisPalmer
Olympic hoops is a different animal. You'd never know Kobe is the second best player on the planet)
Listen, I am impressed with what he accomplished last year as much as anyone. The guy was 2nd in scoring in the NBA at the age of 33, thats pretty impressive. But to consider him better than wade is just utter nonsense. lets compare-
Minutes- When considering the stats, take in mind that Kobe averaged 38 mins last year while wade averaged 33. And Kobe was the 1st option while wade was the 2nd option.
Scoring- Kobe is widely know as the better scorer among the two because of the fact that kobe averages more points. Well, thats not how it works kids. Scoring means how efficiently are you able to score rather than just firing up 25 times a game and making 9 of them.Kobe averaged 27.9 ppg on .430 % (9.9-23.0) shooting. while Wade averaged 22.1 ppg on .497% (8.5-17.1) shooting.Looking at that I conclude that Kobe scores more because he takes more shots and threes, therefore he makes more. Kobe is, obviously, a better shooter than wade but thats about all he does better than wade in terms of scoring because wade is the better finisher, slasher and more efficient, ADV- wade
Passing- Wade is the better passer and that is obvious to me because he has consistently outperformed kobe in that category year in and year out. Stats- 4.6 APG for both kobe and wade and thats pretty impressive for wade because not only was he not the predominant ball handler of the team (unlike Kobe) he also played less mins than kobe, who has two dominant big men he should be able to get more assits from. ADV- Wade
Defense- Kobes defensive resume is quite impressive because hes been on numerous All NBA defensive teams but the thing is hes been living on reputation as far as defense goes because hes not a good defender anymore. He cosistently lets players drive past him and doesnt get many steals or blocks. While wade consistently gets better defensive stats as well as plays better one on one defense and is considered the best shotblocking guard in NBA history. stats- wade- 1.3 blk 1.7 stls and kobe- 0.3 blk 1.2 stls ADV - Wade
Efficiency- No contest here. stats- Wade- FG%- 497 PER- 26.37 Kobe- FG%- .430 Per- 21.95
ADV- Wade
Rebounding- Granted kobe has two of the best rebounders in the NBA on his team so he wont get many opportunities but he is almost 6-7 he should get more rebounds than a 6-3 D-wade. Also wade is more athletic which makes hm the more effective rebounder. Stats- wade- 4.8 rpg Kobe- 5.4 rpg ADV- even
Overall, kobe is a top 10 player but not a top5 and Wade had a bad year last year due to injuries, look for him to bounce back next year.
my top 5 players
1- Lebron
2- Durant
3- Howard
4- Wade
5- Paul

Re: Wade vs kobe
Wade takes plays off especially defensively. He has been hurt, complains too much about calls and doesnt seem to be playing well without the ball lately. He also hasnt seemed to add any new wrinkles to his game. With that said I do believe he is a top 5 player in the league as I believe Kobe is. When the stars align no injuries and playing mad Wade and Kobe are on another level than other players. I am not ready to anoint Durant or Howard (Paul is borderline) as a top 5 player because really what have they done to assert their dominance on the game when it counts. Howard and Durant are still too one dimensional. I cant compare Kobe and Wade as they are diff players. If this were boxing Kobe would be a boxer while Wade is a slugger. Wade gets it done with speed and power. Kobe uses skill, angles and timing. They have different roles as Kobe is the scorer while Wade has to be a facilitator that also scores alot. Cant look at stats alone since they play in different systems ans have different responsibilities and play in different areas of the floor. Let Kobe get all his numbers id rather have a rested managed Wade to win when it counts.

I don't care about your Kobe vs Wade comparisons, I already know Wade is better so that's a non issue to me. The problem I have is you think Dwight Howard is the 3rd best player in the league? lol come on man. He has ZERO offensive post moves. He's the best big man in the NBA by default, because everyone else sucks. If he played in the Olajuwon/Shaq era he would have been the 8th best center in the league behind Olajuwon, Ewing, Mourning, Shaq, D. Robinson, Mutombo, and Rik Smits. Top 5 players in the Association are.....
1. LeBron
2. Durant
3. Rose
4. Wade
5. Melo

Melo? Rose? Howard is clearly better than both of them.

You're delusional if you think:
1) Dwight Howard has no reliable post moves
2) Rik Smits and Dikembe Mutumbo are better players than him
3) Rose and Melo are somehow superior players to Dwight Howard
No one should waste their time entertaining a discussion with an idiot/troll of this caliber.
And this is coming from someone who genuinely dislikes Dwight Howard. Even moreso after this pathetic Dwightmare that's been going on.

I'm sorry but this list is extremely flawed. Melo and Rose both are not top 5 players in this league by any stretch of the imagination, and Howard's defensive presence alone makes him a top 5 player plus Howard's offensive game is a bit underrated on this forum. Everyone claims that he has no low post skill and yet he scores just as many points as some of the most "skilled big men in the game" in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Howard is most definitely a top 5 player.
1. LeBron
2. Durant
3. Howard
4. Wade (when healthy)
5. CP3

Re: Wade vs kobe
Kobe is more skilled than Wade. I don't think Wade will play as well as Kobe has played when he's in his mid 30's. Kobe can still play at 38 years old and still be able to average 20PPG per game. It's hard to believe that Wade hasn't worked with a shooting coach since he came in the league, that alone shows you that he lacks the work ethic to have a long lasting career.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

This. Wade possess great skills, for sure, but he is a guy who largely relies on his speed and athleticism. He is strong and can post up, yes, but even Pat Riley said that Wade's playing style is not one conducive to longevity. At age 34, 35, etc. Wade will much less effective, unless he develops an amazing jumpshot. Something similar may happen to Lebron. Lebron's shot has vastly improved, but again, his amazing outputs are the result of his superhuman strength, speed, and athleticism. Kobe has offensive skills that are not reliant on athleticism. This is why Bryant will be a superior offensive player compared to the other two from age 33 onwards.
And neither Rose nor Rondo possess the status of the third best player in the NBA.

Kobe was better last season because he was more consistent and also durable. You can argue that a healthy Wade is better but health is part of the game. I think we'll all have to wait and see if it was really the injuries that was bothering him last, if he is truly on a decline, or both.
My top 5 is this though..
1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. CP3
4. Rose
5. Howard
Neither Kobe or Wade are top 5 to me and I lold at the person who put Melo. Melo is not even top 10.
Rose and CP3 are only above Howard because of intangibles and because they aren't distractions/locker room problems as Howard is. Plus, Howard also declined a lot last season compared to what he did in 2011. If we are talking 2011 Howard, he might be #2 on the list but we are talking 2012 Howard and that version is #5.

If you're going to knock Wade out of your top 5 for injury concerns and Howard for having a down year then how is Rose in your top 5? He had injury concerns and played worse in 2012 than he did in 2011. That makes no sense.

Well for me, I personally thought that Wade's struggle from last season was not from injury but from decline. I consider injuries apart of decline anyways, usually the older you get, the less durable your body becomes.
My top 5 that I had listed was a list when healthy and I honestly think even if Wade was healthy he isn't top 5 anymore.
Maybe Wade can re-enter my top 5 next season but he would definitely have to fix his jump shot because he isn't as athletic as he once was in '06 or '09 which means that he can't constantly attack and finish at the basket all the time like he did back then. A large reason why he did struggle and was incredibly inconsistent last season was because of his weak jump shot. He'll have to tweak his game a bit to be top 5 again.
